Imagination! Being Replaced w. Dr. Doof?

P & F are all about Imagination and Invention so I think they fit in EPCOT just fine. Captain EO belongs in a retirement home.
Replacing an original character to EPCOT, the park's mascot for TV show characters when there's an entire other park that caters to film an TV characters....... Uh, no thank you.

If there's any refurb or investment in the Imagination pavillion it should to be to restore it to its ORIGINAL theme.

I doubt this would happen (I wish it would) but if it were to go back to the original, how would they redo the ride? I've been wondering how they changed from the original line to the new line. I've heard that the original line was more open and you could see the stairs to Imageworks. And if they did change it back to the original, how would they get some of the AAs because I've heard that Disney sold Dreamfinder's balloon and other things? Would they have to rebuild it?

come on this would be cool we could make doof the host and figment the co-host and perry can escape the trap doof madeand defeat him in a clip if the show in the part when figment now says imagination is a blast
No that doesn't make sense. Stop it. You can't just simply throw the two worlds together so arbitrarily like that, you gotta think about how a story would work if you do a crossover.

If you read my original post I did not say anything about replacing Figment. I said they should give him something new as we all know they are not going to restore the Pavilion to what it once was like we all want. I still think Phineas and Furb are a good fit for EPCOT.

The only thing that would use less imagination than putting in a ride based on P&F would be bringing back the old imagination pavilion. That would be terribily unimaginative. The pavilion needs to be reinvented into something new. I'd prefer figment over no figment, but would prefer a new, inventive ride no matter what the character vs. keeping the current ride or going back to the old ride.

Wow. Reading this thread makes my mind boggle.

I am one of the biggest P+F fans out there...
But I am also a huge fan of the original Imagination attraction.

Disney continues to make some questionable decisions regarding "updates" to attractions that my poor brain just doesn't understand.

Would I love to see a P+F/Doof takeover? Well...I would probably enjoy it a few times.
Would it get obnoxious after too many rides in a row? Yeah, Probably.
Is it necessary to link the attraction with something popular? Not at all...but I'm sure it's cheap, and would be appealing, and entertaining for a short while.

Couldn't they just redo the original attraction? No...but then why would they?

They could do some amazing and utterly astonishing things with the current technology, and just a little spark...
They could bring real imagination and magic and wonder back to that spot.
They could do so much better than even the original...but they seem to be more concerned with the bottom line, and the cost then with making something unique and outstanding. And truly imaginative.

Would I love to see anything updated there? Maybe....but only if it's better than what is there now. And while it's easy to say that ANYTHING is better than the current attraction...I don't have that much faith.

If they put in a Dr. Doof overlay, my mom wouldn't ride it, because she can't stand the character's voice. Which is as sad as it is true.

From the looks of the way he posts, I'm guessing it's a 10 year old.

Two points:

1. This isn't happenng, so it's all a moot point.

2. It is still a terrible idea.

I think this pretty much sums it up. It is about getting folks into the pavilion and nowadays folks are much less inclined to see something that is not in some way familiar to them. Most folks do no know who Fingment is and have never heard of Dreamfinder. I don't think a character overlay is necessary, but I definitely think it can be done well if the Imagineers are allowed to let their imaginations run with it and let's be honest, it drives attendance.
This is the Imagination pavilion, I want Imagineers to use their wait for it imaginations and come up with something completely new. Yes, the ride was great back in the day, but I don't find it very imaginative to recreate something. Give me some new imagination to blow my socks off. They need to use new technologies to inspire new generations.
Whether it's brand new characters, Figment &/or Dreamfinder, or some other already existing characters I would love to see the entire pavilion scraped and reimagined from scratch to give us something truly imaginative.

I agree that not enough people know Figment and Dreamfinder. But it's only gotten that way because Disney refuses to improve the pavilion and promote the characters. When I was a kid, I knew exactly who Figment was and he didn't even have a TV show. In fact, he was (and is still) the only Disney character I liked. That's because he was EPCOT Center's mascot, not just a minor character in an obscure and mostly-forgotten ride. Back then Figment was everywhere around the park, Mickey and the rest of the MK crowd seemed to be the afterthought.

I'd like to see those days return, the de-Disneyfication EPCOT Center. It would be awesome. The only characters we should see around the park are Figment, Dreamfinder, The Kitchen Kabaret crew, SMART-1, and maybe Buzzy. Figment could easily be a well known and loved character again. All they'd have to do is put him back at the forefront with a brand new JII to fill in the story.

I agree with you on number 1 but disagree on number 2. There have been much worse ideas. Keep Figment and refresh that ride and get rid of EO and put a Phineas and Furb 4D experience in that theater.

Agree. They couldn't even figure out a way to make the ocean interesting by using one of the largest aquariums in the world (and the real fish living within it). They had to sell toys. So now we have that abomination of a pavilion and it's mind numbing, moronic cartoon overlay.

Ideally, The Living Seas would have moved to Animal Kingdom in 1998, and Mission:SPACE would have replaced TLS instead of Horizons...
