I too dislike reputation points. I only give out positive ones. And I had a fair share of negative points. I belive I had 10 points at one time. And if my information is correct the posts that got negatives was before the introduction of the feature. Now I know that it is made so you watch your back but some people just abuse it. Look at me, I have a lower-mid 200 posts counting chit-chat. I don't understand why anyone can actually read what I wrote. I mean, I'm approaching a year on the boards and maybe 1 out of 25 active members know who I am. I now have more positive than negative points but that was mainly by providing worthless info and agreeing about hot dogs (lol you know who you are).

What would be nice is if , once you earn enough rep points, then you can have the option of purchasing with your points things such as: make you name a different color, or add a glow to it, and other little things.
I visit another forum and that is what is done with rep points there. Check it out sometime at www.powwows.com
of course sometimes rep points are abused, by being critical of other peoples opinions because they do not match the bad rep givers! The thing is this is a discussion forum and things are going to be discussed, along with the fact that almost everyone has a different opinion on almost everything.
