IllumiNations New Pyro Changes

I do think that the one thing they could do that would improve the show is invest in a larger ball that people could see better and does more effects. And maybe has a big Siemens logo on it, just kidding.

And I want my Tapestry parade back. That was the best parade ever. And I want Share a Dream Come True parade back at MK.

As much as many, many people (myself included) enjoyed Tapestry of Nations/Dreams I can't imagine we'll ever see anything like that again in World Showcase. The layout of the park is simply not designed to support a regular parade. The operational reality of guests wanting/needing to continue moving about the park just does not allow any regular parade to be presented safely either for guests or performers. There are too many bottleneck points in the paths where the parade passing by completely stops any guest from moving around the lagoon. And the real world taught Disney that those guests are going to go where they want to whether you have a parade there or not. If there is not an alternate route, they'll just walk the parade route without regard to get to their destination.

In all my years of going and loving it, i never once stopped to think there was a story to it... Mind Blown. I absolutely love watching that show. Accidentally went for the 30th and wow what an ending that was. But to each his own. if you don't like it, don't watch it.

Lots of discussion here, which is great, but anyone know for sure the cause of the change, and if the sub par pyro is onlyonly temporary?

As a local who has seen IllumiNations countless times over the years I can tell you (as others have above) the pyro is constantly changing in various sequences of this show. My experience has been that it's completely normal for their to be variations for any number of reasons. Nobody but Disney knows the exact reason and that is not information they are going to share. It could be trying something new to see how it works in the show, it could be as supplier can no longer provide a specific model of pyro. There were issues a few years ago after a huge fire in China where fireworks didn't get out and there were worldwide shortages.

Bottom line is that the pyro is constantly changing in this show and it should be considered normal behaviour. They've been doing this for years.

In brief....

Big Bang. Universe forms. Chaos.

Order. The earth forms from molten rock, cools, drifts across the solar system.

Plant life. Water. Animals. Mammals.

Man makes his first kill and records it on cave walls.

Man leaves the cave.

Begins to travel.

Begins to invent and travel further.

Builds around the globe.

Gets arty. Paints. Draws. The modern world.

Celebration of man.

Smoochy we all need to live together no matter what ethnicity.

19 torches light for each century AD

20th torch lights on the globe for the new century

Accelerate into the new century for finale

In a nutshell.

Question: I've seen people refer to the "scenes" of the show by different names. Are there official names for these?

More specifically....

Prologue / acceleration
Act 1 Chaos
Act 2 Order
Space
Life
Adventure
Home
Celebration
Meaning
Act 3 We Go On
Next item of curiosity for me: When specifically are the transitions between each? Are these questions getting annoying yet?

Listening to just the show soundtrack will help you understand where the acts separate.
You can literally hear the transitioning between 'scenes' by just listening to the music.
The musical compositions, and how they change in pace, tempo, and mood throughout the course of the presentation can clarify where the changes occur.

I have always felt that 75% of the appeal of ROE is the beautifully composed music.
Absolutely gorgeous melodies and how well they all blend together....and also totally original ( no 'Disney tunes' ).
One of my all time favorite pieces of Park music ever.

Well the original fireworks supplier went out of business. Marni is dead-on about supply issues..... though it makes me wonder if the Mouse pays those invoices in a timely basis

To me, it looks A) supplier has changed B) Supplies have diminished or C) Budget cut, forcing them to scale back the fireworks.
Could this just have had been a bad night?

Definitely some cutbacks in there, notably in Home and Celebration, where right now only 2 of 4 shells are being launched. Also noticed some cutbacks during Chaos, including the disappearance of the scattering bees (though they've been pretty weak ever since they switched to "environmentally friendly" pyro).

Hopefully it's all just a supplier issue and not longer term budget cuts. RoE is only the impressive show it is if it's firing on all cylinders.

Anyone know if the torches are still lit 30 mins prior to show time, and then stay on through the ToN theme? That'd be another area where savings could be squeezed.

Illuminations is short, boring, and anticlimactic it's been that way since current version premiered in 99'. Honestly It's time for a new show.

I was aware of that. I guess what I was saying is that this isn't just a one-time thing where one week they had one set of pyro, the supplier went OOB and the next week it changed. The pyro they use in the show is constantly changing all time. I've seen it so many times I notice it but i've found it really common for changes in the shell types and colors all the time in the show.

And of many.

RoE consistently score highest in guest satisfaction.
While that sounds wonderful for ROE and Epcot(and they deserve every bit of it!) Does that also tell us that guests don't want ROE to leave? I know there's has been rumors on here about ROE's replacement but none lately.

I LOVE ROE but it can't stay around forever, can it?

Once they got rid of the whistling screamer fireworks my interest in this show faded. It seems to be progressively losing more and more only to be replaced with sub-par fireworks. I won't cry once a new show is announced.
What year did they stop using the screaming fireworks?
