Trip Report I Will Survive.....Spring Break (with a hint of May) *COMPLETED*

At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live among the Spring Break crowds
But then I spent so many nights thinking how I could be wrong
And I grew strong
And I knew I could get along....

Well that’s what I’m hoping for anyway. I’m not a newbie when it comes to navigating Spring Break at WDW. I’ve got a couple decades of experience under my belt. “Spring Break” isn’t a single week of cray cray crowds (like the week between Christmas and New Years) but is spread over March and April. Unfortunately one (or more) of those weeks can end up being cray cray....and these days, there is no way to predict which one.

Please don’t let it be this week.

But we are prepared. ADRs at 180 days. FPs at 60 days. Clothing for rain or shine. (Praying for shine ~ we’ve had enough rain over the last 4 months to set an ark afloat.) And attitudes willing to “go with the flow.” 🐢

My goal is to keep the updates live. Should I fail? There’s always Part “Tu”.

Who: Tuvalu, Woody and Em (the teacher whose schedule dictates when we go)
When: Sunday, March 31 - Sunday, April 7, 2019
Where: Port Orleans French Quarter
Why: Let’s hope we don’t ask ourselves this!
How: We’ve done the plane, can’t take the train....so it must be the automobile!

Will we be smiling at the end of the week? Stay tuned.
360223

And if you don’t hang around for the smiles, you may want to peek in and see if there are any WDWMagic meet ups. I know of at least three forum friends I hope to encounter.

Now it’s off to bed! The alarm is set for zero-dark-thirty.

Woody and I have eaten at Narcoosee’s only once....in 2003.

It was a good meal, but since the restaurant tends to be seafood-centric, we’ve never made it a priority to return.

That changed tonight.

This intimate restaurant has stellar views of Seven Seas Lagoon. We sat on the upper section and enjoyed the 180!

Look what happens after half a glass of wine. (Although I did have an Island Sunset from the Tambu Lounge first! :joyfull:)

(On the other hand I could have claimed I was trying to be artsy!)

Much better.

Woody had the NY Strip. He believed it was the first time he was served a strip pre-sliced.
He said the flavor was outstanding.

I, of course, ordered the filet. It was good but....not gonna lie....the filets at Jiko and Cali Grill are superior for my taste. I have a fondness for the Oak Grilling method used by Jiko and Cali.

BUT....

The heirloom roasted carrots were unbelievable, and I hate cooked carrots! We also ordered a side of asparagus and the signature loaded mashed Yukon potatoes (Applewood Bacon, Tillamook Cheddar and scallions). OMG to both dishes! I regretted even ordering the steak because I could have filled up on all the veggies. They were THAT good.

Even though we were comfortably full, we splurged on dessert.

Banana Cream Torte for Woody.

He earned the “clean plate” award!

Dark Chocolate Mocha Candy Bar with Dark Chocolate Gelato for me.

If you love dark chocolate, as I do, this is your
dessert! So decadent. So rich. So absolutely necessary to share, because I could barely eat half of it!

We finished our amazing dinner watching Happily Ever After....followed immediately by the Electrical Water Pageant....from the deck outside the restaurant.

❤️❤️❤️

Narcoossee's is a staple for Kevin and I. We've celebrated birthdays and anniversaries there and taken many good friends and family for an always amazing dining experience. It's nice to hear of other people having a great experience there. I've had fish dishes, shrimp, scallops, lobster and even pork chops there. All have been delicious!

I think I like it more than California Grill (aside from Brunch at the Top). My brother and I argue about it sometimes, but since he doesn't eat seafood, I guess I can understand his preference for CA Grill. :geek:

Have lots more fun!!

Began the day with a “proper” breakfast.

We were surprised and delighted to learn that the calliope actually works! It played “Give My Regards to Broadway” when the restaurant opened its doors for business.

There is such a variety of wonderful food offerings on the buffet at 1900 Park Fare. We left stuffed and didn’t eat another thing until buffet #2 ~ dinner at Trail’s End. (FYI breakfast at 1900 PF is $5 more per person than dinner at TE. Of course there are no characters at the latter. 😉)

I have read reports that the same strawberry shortcake served at Hoop Dee Doo is available at Trail’s End.

Photo evidence this is no longer the case.

“Tartlet” is not cake.

Got our HEA fix in the same spot as @Doc Disney and her parents. Does that count as meetup number 5? :joyfull:

Magic Kingdom AGAIN?!

Woody’s suggestion. I will never turn down an opportunity to spend time in my favorite park.

Lighter crowds today. And fewer lovebugs, thankfully. The lovebugs have been absolutely awful! Swarms of bugs everywhere, like something out of a horror movie. We’ve seen kids (and adults) freak out as they land on their clothes or head. A lovebug’s lifespan is only three or four days so there are dead ones all over too. YUCK.

Space Mountain was finally open this morning. After riding, we had a new (to us) snack.

Not exactly the kind of cheese I enjoy with a warm pretzel, but it tasted better than I expected.

Got a last-minute lunch ADR.

I mentioned paper straws replacing plastic in the parks. This is how the straws are packaged:

Woody and I had a good people-watching table and a fast and friendly server. Food was tasty, although it kills me that the sandwiches are 50 percent higher than what they used to cost only a couple years ago.

I love your top!
I've never been over when the lovebugs have been an issue but Jack called me Tuesday from Disney springs and was having a tough time dealing with them.
We have a similar problem here when certain crops are being harvested. Not a good time to wear white lol
Enjoying this mini report 😀

Woody and I got off Little Mermaid and there was a family of 5 behind us (Dad, Mom, three kids under 10). They followed us past Gaston’s and Be Our Guest (toward the carousel) and were talking about the attraction.

Mom then loudly announced....not once, not twice, but three times....”We’re going to meet Ariel in her grotto tomorrow at Epcot. There’s a special area to meet her. A grotto!”

Ariel does have a meet and greet grotto, Mom. It is located next to the attraction you just got off! :banghead:

Conductor Woody wanted to visit the MPB.

“It’s just a regular park bench now since it’s not moving,” sighed Woody.

We sat and enjoyed the view for awhile.

Yayy for lighter crowds! Lunch looked good but the ice cream looked even better! 😋
Ooo lovebugs. Hate when they get all over the front of the car! Yuck!
