I have a mission

My boss has charged me with the task of planning her daughter's 5th birthday and first visit to Disney. She will be there April 1-3. Tey are staying at Contemporary. Any tips would be greatly appreciated to prevent my firing.

She definitely wants to do Bippidy Boppity Boutique.
Which Cinderella Castle dining meal do the kids actually eat with princesses? I have never done itbut I think the dinner is dinner with Fairy Godmother and a picture with Cinderella. What is breakfast like?

For 3 days, they are planning only on seeing MK and AK which I feel would be best for a 5 year old and an abbreviated trip.

What are the other best character dining options?

Any other advise?

Two character meals that I would plan would be Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary and 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian, both for either breakfast or dinner. The characters at 1900 Park Fare are different at night. Both are fun and perfect for a birthday celebration.:)

I would also book BBB for the one in the Castle.

Definitely Tusker House at AK for breakfast OR lunch with Donald and Mickey....Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary has a great character meal, Crystal Palace in MK has a GREAT brekky with Pooh Tigger Eeyore And piglet and of course breakfast at Cinderella's Castle is a HUGE winner! Plus with this particular breakfast (CRT) you get a photo package that comes with it!

The princesses walk from table to table during lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table.

I kind of think this is fun for you, but sad that the parent doesn't want to be planning special moments for their 5 year old:shrug:

I just got back a couple weeks ago with my 5 year old daughter. For her the trip is all about seeing the princesses. I would definitely recommend doing the BBB followed by Cinderella's Royal Table. She was also really excited to see Daisy Duck at the Tusker House. I would make a list of where you can find the princesses through out the parks. It was so important to my daughter to get all of their autographs. We got Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Belle and Aurora at CRT breakfast. Found Jasmine by the Flying Carpets, Tiana is by Liberty Square, Fairies in Toontown, etc. I also took her for a pedicure at Grand Floridian, she was so into the pampering. Its a great age for Disney!

Princesses are also at Akershus in Epcot altho you say they won't be going there. Agree with others about Crystal Palace and Park Fare 1900. Try to get Crystal Palace before the park opens, B'fast will be over by the time she can go on the rides. It's really neat to walk in the park with hardly anyone else around. I like lunch best at Cinderella's Royal Table. The photo is a wonderful momento. Yes to Tusker House! Chef Mickey's my least favorite of character meals. If they have time, the character b'fast at Cape May (Beach Club) is fun, too. I actually like their food better than most of the buffets.
If the trip goes well, maybe you'll get a raise!!

Be advised, reservations for breakfast at the Castle are extremely hard to come by. I'd call Disney Dining now and get the details on the procedure.

Yes!! Arriving on April 1st, they are already at 150 days out - people have already had 30 days to make their ADRs. You may have to have Plans B, C and D ready.

My 5 year old daughter loved 2 things when we took her for her birthday. The pirate adventure cruise out of Port Orleans resort and the Spirit of Aloha dinner at the Poly.

While breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table is the most sought after time slot for that restaurant...if they want to do Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique- you might consider a BBB appointment before CRT (i.e. you may want to try CRT for lunch) so that she's made up as a princess before doing CRT with the princesses. You can book CRT online, but BBB must be booked by phone.

If you can't get into CRT and she still wants princesses...there is always dinner over at 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian. There they'll see Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Stepsisters, and the Stepmother.

Beyond that- Crystal Palace (B,L,D) with the Winnie the Pooh characters and Chef Mickey's (usually B,D) in the Contemporary are good options. 'Ohana in the Poly alos has a character breakfast.

Tusker would be the best bet for AK.

Another neat idea- I think they offer a princess tea option for kids over at the Grand Floridian. I believe you'd need to call for that.

Okay, first thing you need to do is start calling the disney reservation line to set up the Cinderella Royal Table breakfast. You may actually be too late already but you can still try... If you can't get it then set them up with the 1900 Park Faire for Dinner so she will still get Cinderella... Also you can continue to call each day for the Royal Table breakfast meal because sometimes you get lucky and someone cancels....

And hey, since you are having to do this job for someone too lazy to plan their own kids birthday take a little comfort in knowing that the CRT breakfast is probably the worst breakfast in all of Disney from a food standpoint... and also is expensive... so that should bring you a little smile from the revenge point of view.

Next, since it isn't your money... you might as well book them for the full Bibbity Bobbity treatment (there are 3 levels... the best value is probably the 2nd level... the absolute worst is the the full monty where they charge about $200 for the same hair and nails as the 60$ version but throw in an exceeding overpriced disney costume that you could buy cheaper in any Disney store across America... So again you managed to make your boss pay for not caring.

And finally don't forget the Princess Tea Party at the Grand Floridian. The last time we did that it was about $150 for 1 daughter and my wife.... it's very expensive but the little girl will be given a sleeping beauty doll (over priced again, but hey its Disney and this is your bosses money).

Those are the main things a little girl of 5 would enjoy.... AK for a 5 year old really isn't a full day event... a half day is enough time... but since you are planning for that place you should probably book them a breakfast there at Tuskers its the only AK character option I can think of and it will again increase the monetary pain to your boss (in case you haven't noticed I'm trying to help you squeeze as much money from your boss as possible... it will reduce the odds of the boss asking you to continue planning vacations for him/her).

Of course you could really go over board and book them a VIP tour which will cost them about $250/hour and could be arranged to last 8 hours or more.... The upside would be they would get premium viewing of shows and such... and again you could make him/her pay dearly for pawning off the poor kids birthday on you.

BBB is great - reserve the one at the castle :king:

CRT for breakfast is a nice way to start the day - you get to meet Cinderella in the lobby & some of the other princesses during the meal - you even get a picture w/ Cinderella

Character Dining Options:
Chef Mickey's for breakfast or dinner at the Contemporary Resort (features, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, & Pluto)
1900 Park Fare for dinner at the Grand Floridian (features Cinderella, Prince Charming, Fairy Godmother, Stepmother, & Stepsisters)
1900 Park Fare for breakfast at the Grand Floridian (features Alice, Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, Pooh & friends)
Crystal Palace for breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the MK (features Pooh & friends)
Ohana for breakfast at the Polynesian Resort (features Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, & Stitch)
Donald's Safari Breakfast at the Tusker House in the AK (features Donald, Daisy, Mickey, Goofy (I think), & Pluto)

I would also recommend the Wonderland Tea Party at the Grand Floridian (features Alice & the Mad Hatter) & the Princess Tea Party at the Grand Floridian (features Sleeping Beauty).
