Wow... uber thread... it's immune... but here's my 2 years 2 late 2 cents...

This happens all the time at art shows... which is similar to what F&G is... If you were a vendor, would you want somebody taking pics of your painting so they could go have it duplicated and then you lose out? The guy had the same problem... although there's no "law" about it because on Disney property, even though it is private, you can pretty much take pictures all you want unless noted... but just for future reference, to avoid altercations, don't take pics of people's works without asking permission... for all he knew, you were going to steal his idea and recreate his hardwork on your own, then he'd lose money... remember, he was paying to have that booth set up to sell his stuff, not have people take pics of it and make it themselves...
true... but he lies about his patents and copyrights. I've searched all over and can't find anything to back him up.

To me, the issue here isn't as much about the copyright, as it is in handling people the right way. When you work on Disney property, you had better know the right way. These people seem to me to be very lacking in the people skills/ customer relations dept.

But they are at every craft fair

I've read thru the 40 plus pages of this epic thread...what a story! I'm sorry to the original poster that you had to have such an experience at WDW, but what resounding support you've gotten here! And you may hold the record for longest living thread :sohappy: . It seems to be a bit of a rite of passage to post a reply to this growing thread so here's my 2 cents worth. :animwink:

I think it's hysterical how protective this guy was of his planters and design. I've seen those at nearly every craft and garden show I've been to...and with different vendors. I've even seen websites that teach you how to make your own. Hate to break it to the guy but the secret is out!

Best wishes and pleasant interactions to all who attend the F&G Festival this year .

Ya know, I felt the need to reread this whole thing and looking back, MKT and BwanaBob were evil together. Man, we need that to happen again. Only this time, someone with lot's of cameras' (oh yay, Japanese tourist time... sorry for that comment in advanced) and let's get more lanuages involved. Man, let the good times roll.... ah.... why does this guy return every year?

MKT, you'll be happy to know that every year since this thread started, I've gone the F/G fest and snap a photo of this vendor's work. I actually usually have taken pics of things like the no photo signs.

pfft... it's WDW. I'll take whatever onstage photos I want, except using flash on selected attractions.

Rob. I can't believe I've been missing out on this whole idea...

You know who I work for...

Well, It's pretty damn easy to get credentials and the "appropriate" F & G wear...

Want to hook up and have fun with them??

What we need are t-shirts with the picture of the flower pots on them that we can all wear to the guy's booth.

I got a picture of myself wearing the "Sir Nim Limited Edition Wanted Shirt" in front of their stuff. It was pretty funny. I think I posted it earlier in this thread, but it was sometime last year the picture was taken so I'm sure it's more than a few pages back.

i like the photo obcessive tourist mob. 50 cameras with flashes would be funny.. You wouldn't even have to use film.. .but have some people with tripods and HUGE telescopic zooms. Or even better, print up a manuel with the instructions on building these pots and compare the instructions to his... what a gas!

Over the past two nights I've been reading this thread and loving it, having finally "caught up."

I look forward to see the results of your heckling. This tradition is now older than some Disney rides! Heh.

I just got back from Epcot and I didn't see them. I spent most of my time in WS and last time I saw them in America. I will be checking out FW later so I will look there.
