This is a tough one...it's really no ones fault but then again you have understand that I'm looking at it from an third party perspective here. In my opinion you didn't necessarily "owe him" as far as paying for the camera goes but feel that offering him something towards the repair or towards a new camera would have been the way to go here. However it kind of sounds like he acted like a jerk and could have handled the situation a little better, even if his nose was bleeding. But then again your "sucks to be you" comment wasn't really called for :) Offering him dinner was a nice gesture but I suppose I can see why a man whose nose and camera had suddenly been broken would have been in a bit of a bad mood.

It's a crummy situation but that's personally what I would have done.

I agree suck to be you was a smart as$$ comment but I would expect that from anyone who has this in there signature....

I said I didn't know if his nose was messed up before I hit him, it could have been broken before hand, all I know was, I turned around swinging my elbow and I smacked the guy right in the nose, and yes it was bleeding like a stuck pig, there is no other way to describe it.

I didn't offer the guy a meal to "forget about the camera thing", I owed him nothing for that, I offered him a meal because I felt bad for the little guy, nothing more, nothing less.

Jimmy Thick- Yes, I have fans!!!!

Dont understand why you would want to brag about this unfortunate incident...
Broke his nose is really not something to be proud about, accident or not.

So you bust the guy's nose, break his camera, then are a total "Jimmy Thick" to the guy after it all "Sucks to be you". Class act!

Again the attitude that is fully expected from a person who has this signature

Classy all the way.....great role model for your kid.....

But too much is not adding up with this. The OP claims to be a weight-lifting police officer from Wisconsin, at least on user profile. Okay then, as a law enforcement official, he should know the first & foremost rule is to exchange personal contact info. And for a police officer, whether off duty or on, to use the: "hey, I'll buy you a meal and we'll forget the camera thing..", or to refer to the man as a bleeding "stuck pig"(irony)... that doesn't ride. My guess is this thread was an attempt to say, (like others have jokingly acknowledged), that "I'm so macho & tough that I can break someone's nose just by them bumping into me." It really came off (imo) as a brag. Then to begin the whole post by claiming such a "loyal" fan base he has of his threads....it just all comes off as narcissism at it's finest.
Not hating, just observing.

Police Officer.... now it all makes sense I think Im becoming a fan of the driving force......

Correct me if I am wrong but I imagine that the person with the broken nose was actually in the process of video taping (with the camera to his face) when Jimmy turned around. When his elbow made contact it actually hit the camera sending it into the guys face. If Jimmy turned around quickly with enough force and the guy was close enough it could have definately happened. I don't think the story is necessarily made up as much as it may not have been explained correctly.

sounds like the guy was video taping Jimmy's backside...which is odd. And would rightfully deserve an elbow to the face.

I suppose if you did know what Disney offers, it would pay, but Dining Plan or any of its variations cannot be "added" to a guest's resort key, no matter whether you want to pay for it or not. It has to be part of a vacation package and has to be booked at least 3 days [I believe] prior to check-in.

Jimmy Thick - Blowing more smoke... Still...

I was under the impression it was possible to add days to the dining plan, so I looked into it:

Welcome to Disney! My name is Hayden. How may I help you today?

you: hello, I was wondering if it was possible to add days to the disney dining plan while I was at Disney World if I wanted to go to a signature dining restaurant and needed a extra credit?

Hayden: Hello and Welcome to Disney! I'll be glad to point you in the right direction. There is no way to modify the package once you are here. You would need to make any Dining Plan changes at least 3 days PRIOR to arrival

Jimmy Thick-Guess not...

Thinking the exact same thing.

Okay, just for the heck of it, let us look at this from another perspective. The responses so far have ranged from doubtful to hilarious. I really have enjoyed them, but how about this. You are on vacation, you are going onto a ride you enjoy enough that you want to film it and save the experience. You are setting up your camera and suddenly you are hit in the face, hard enough to break your nose. Your camera is broken, you are bleeding profusely,(as nose bleeds have a tendency to do.), what is your reaction? I am not looking to blame anyone, but put yourself in the other guys shoes for just a minute. Do you think someone offering you a meal is going to help? Again, I understand accidents happen, (especially, I am sure, around a person who appears to have his own gravitational pull.), but belittling the guys reaction really isn't fair. Just think about it.

If it was an accident I defintely feel for the guy, but you don't then act like an ______ and demand that the other person pay you for your camera in an accident. Unless the situation was anything less than other guy provoking, harassing and purposely broke my camera, or the guy was a stammering drunkard and knocked me out and broke my camera because of his insanely stupid public drunkeness, why should I demand that the other guy pay for it?

Once that "You owe me for my camera" reaction came out of the other guy, I lose any sense of sympathy. It was an accident dude, and it looks like it was an accident based on your not watching where you were going. So many people think they are owed something anymore, well ya know what, the world doesn't owe you jack.

That's my take! :D

As I was saying I understand Jimmy's reaction. What I am asking is, if it was you, and someone swung around, hit you in the face, broke your camera and your nose, what do you think your reaction would be?

I don't know...even if it were a complete accident isn't the person who elbowed the other person still at fault? I'm just thinking if it happened to me. If I was standing there filming my daughter and someone flung their elbow back and broke my nose and camera I would expect to have the camera replaced and my medical bills paid as my actions did not contribute to any of that while the other person's actions contributed 100% to my injury.

Now, I dodn't know what happened at all. Was the guy walking and not looking? Did you just calmly turn around and bump him or did you wildly gesture for some reason?

To put this scenario into a different context: how would all of you feel if your child got their nose broken by a stranger who hit them with their elbow? Does that change your perspective at all?
