Hurricane Matthew

When do you guys think it would be okay to drive in to Florida after this hits? Do you think the evacuation traffic would be cleared up going back to Florida by Sunday?
Sunday will probably be heavy, and if there is widespread damage and power outages, you may have trouble.
It's too hard to say right now, really. All just depends on how everything is effected.
Your best bet is to watch the news, then call your resort before heading down.

Charley plowed right through central Florida.

Source: I was in the eye.

And wind gusts as it passed through Orlando were about 106 mph. Matthew is expected to be higher.

Edit: Kate was a weak Category 2 storm when it made landfall 9 miles west of Tallahassee. Gusts were clocked at 108 mph. However, 90% of Tallahassee was without power, we had a curfew and I was without power from 6pm the Thursday she struck until the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Over 1,000 trees fell around town. Matthew is going to be much, much worse.

Let's say your trip is booked for Fri-Monday and have 4 day park hoppers. Will Disney reimburse people for the days lost on their tickets? I just got back from a stay at AoA and there is nothing to do in those rooms and it's not like there's enough indoor space for them to actually hold good activities. I can't imagine how miserable this must be for people stuck there.

My local forecast (15 minutes north of WDW) calls for Cat 1 sustained winds
That sucks....

Over at the airport, yes. Sustained winds over by the all stars never reached hurricane strength.

But when youre talking about winds over 50mph sustained, doesnt really matter whether its 100 or 110, youre screwed none the less.
