Not sure about Orlando, but Andrew in 86 hit South Florida as a Cat 5 causing $26.5 billion in damages, no deaths recorded.
Charley in 92 hit as a Cat 4, causing $15.1 billion in damages, 8 deaths.
WHAT?Andrew hit in Aug of '92 and it still amazes me there were no deaths out of that disaster.
I'd just stay home. That's great, but, Where would you go?
Can't believe the people just hanging out in the pool...

If you are staying on site why not. Weather hasn't started to turn bad yet.

What was amusing to me was the idiots in the pool during the MIDDLE of the storm
Wow, I really misspoke there. It appears there were 65 Deaths. Yikes how did I miss that...WHAT?
Hurricane Andrew happened in 1992, not 86. Hurricane Charley happened in 2004, not in 1992.
I have a first hand account of Hurricane Andrew in 1992 since It happened during my WDW trip that year.
I was staying at the Port Orleans resort aka now know as Port Orleans French Quarter in 1992 at WDW when Hurricane Andrew hit.
Hurricane Andrew didn't cause any of the 3 theme parks to close at all. I was at WDW theme park on that day. It was either the Magic Kingdom or Epcot. I didn't recall any damage for WDW in terms of the resort I stayed at or the theme parks.
