I hope by now you have already left to go home and haven't run into too much traffic. I had to finally turn the news channel because I was getting to nervous. I know there are many of you who I don't know, but I worry about all of our members here at wdwmagic. I guess there is Debbie, MicBat, hmppan, walt158,
Big Pooh and I was thinking Camino Dog...I could be wrong about the members. Just trying to figure out who is from where so we can keep updated on you all. If anyone knows any more members, please post here. Thanks

Goodluck to you all and you're in my prayers.

We spent the day boarding up the windows. A film crew from CNN came by to film us and one of our neighbors, cutting and putting up some plywood. I am exhausted from the work, which took my brother and I longer than planned, but at least it didn't rain.

Last I heard, the metro New Orleans area should expect to have tropical force winds of 35-50 mph, and rain... but not as much rain as with Isadore.

The mayor did not announce any mandatory evacuation, but urged residents in the lower lying parts of Orleans Parish to seek higher ground, and others to stay indoors tonight and tomorrow.

Take Care Everyone.

Camelot, where do you live? I'll watch for you on CNN.

Do you think the mayor might regret that decision? About not making it a mandatory evacuation?

Goofette, I live in the middle of the French Quarter.

The Mayor was just on the 10PM news and he seemed pretty confident that he made the right decision, and emphasized that he did strongly recommend that residents of certain areas in Orleans, leave for higher ground.

I´m glad to see you are still posting! Are you getting rain too? I saw it turned into a Category 4 hurricane  and can only feel for you! The hurricanes usually get stronger when they are in the ocean and that´s exactly what happened. I´ll keep all of you in my prayers!

Hello, Maria... Yes, it just started to rain, but our local weathermen predict that we won't get as much rain as we did during Isadore (so that was good news), but the winds are supposed to be stronger.

I can't complain though, we'll be OK here, compared to what the conditions will be for the coastal areas where the Catagory 4 Hurricane Lili is expected to make landfall.

Hoping the best for everyone...you're all in my thoughts as we ride out the storm tonight and tomorrow. Be safe...

Good Morning. This morning Hurricane Lili was downgraded to a Catagory 2.

Here in the metro New Orleans area, we had rain and winds as expected. We are OK here and hope the best for others who are hit hard by Hurrican Lili.
Check in if you can to let us know how you are.

Take care everyone.

I think we're in the clear now. It got to be really scary when the storm stayed at 90.1 and wouldn't move west. Finally it took a jog to the west. Now it's time to put the house back together, and I can't complain if that's all we have to do. The only damage we have is the roof to our shed peeled. It's not worth claiming on insurance with the deductible higher from hurricanes damage. I think the damage would have been worse had the storm gone to the east of Vermillion Bay.

Debbie...glad to hear you're OK. I was so worried about you when they upgraded it yesterday...and so relieved when they downgraded it earlier today.

Hi again everyone....we're back. It pretty much missed us in Beaumont. We got some tropical storm force winds and a little rain but nothing too bad. To all of you in La., I hope you are all safe and sound. Hopefully this is the last time we'll have to deal with this year. Thanks to everyone for their concern. We really do appreciate it. :)

Cheers

It´s such a relief to read you are doing fine! Thank God! I was so worried when I heard that it was already category 4! I´m glad to hear you did well! I hope the others who have not posted are fine too. Was there a lot of damage in the cities? I hope not! :)

Well the powers back on. It went off around midnight. We had some really bad wind but not alot of rain. Major tree damage in my neighborhood but lucky none of ours were damaged. We had winds of execess of 90mph. Got really scary for a while this morning.

Thanks everyone for the concern.
