Power is going out all over Key west now.
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but I really hope no resources are wasted or others' lives lost trying to save people who thought it would be smart to ride out a hurricane in a boat.Stormchasers have been saying that several people chose to ride out the storm on their boats.
I don't see any possible way that those people will survive.

I wonder if they chose to ride out storm in their boats after drinking everything they could find.Stormchasers have been saying that several people chose to ride out the storm on their boats.

Omg. I almost announced something earlier in the thread.. I've turned off all notifications Recording the game.. not watching right now until I hear the 11pm Irma announcement
And that bulletin only applies to the main tower, right?Contemporary is different too
Was told wave would be buffet on the 9th and that both wave and cali grill would be open during the evenings with full menus. Additionally, Quick service location is going to be running.
Essentially, business as usual here.
Will update as it changes. I will also add that when they extended my stay they discounted the rate to $190ish per night. Again- zero complaints. I'd choose the contemporary for any future hurricane.
Between the management and the building itself, I don't know if it can be topped.
While I certainly don't wish ill on any one place over another - sitting here in a Disney hotel right now, I'm quite fine with Irma deciding against a direct hit on Central Florida.Things keep looking better and better for central florida. Pray this thing keeps shifting west.
So Kristen bell is at the swan and dolphin
I don't know where you are getting your information. This hurricane is over 200 miles wide. Orlando is going to get hammered just like Tampa and since it will be on the east side of the eye it's going to get hit harder as it moves north.Things keep looking better and better for central florida. Pray this thing keeps shifting west.
Yea so we can have it in the panhandle.Things keep looking better and better for central florida. Pray this thing keeps shifting west.
You would be surprised.
I knew a guy who has been floating around on boats since the Vietnam war. Something snapped in his mind. He has had 3 boats sunk under him because of hurricanes. 2 in the Bahamas. That was the last time I talked to him, the number may have gone up. Sail boats BTW.
First problem is there are many boat people who are just poor and have no where to go. The guy I was talking about would come into town stay in a marina working odd jobs till he could make repairs on his boat, buy supplies and have some cash to sail away. That was his life for 30 -40 years, he's not going to change now. Also he knew what to do, about where to anchor a boat to ride out a storm etc. These boat people aren't city people out for a little boat ride many have a lot of experience. A hurricane is very survivable on a boat. The bigger the better.
I don't know why these people wouldn't have just pointed their boats towards the Cayman Island and started sail in that direction? That's what I would have done. They could have easily got a 5 day head start, enough to be clear of the hurricane.
So apparently residents of Miami are crying foul saying they could have stayed home
