Hurricane Irma

...but it is. We all like to think it's not, but it is. When the politicians paying you are all for global warming then you say "global warming" and keep your trap shut about the politicians who decide whether you're funded or not.

It's not much different than the chocolate industry funding some "science" to get a "healty benefits of chocolate"-report out. "Chocolate helps in the fight against heart disease!" - suddenly becomes a headline.

Science is not "pure" and is often wrong. That's the history of it. Add to it how everything is politicized these days, including science and it leads one to question their motives. I don't doubt that there are scientists fully on-board with global warming who are very vocal about it. At the same time I don't doubt that there are plenty of scientists who are not on board with global warming and are smart enough to keep their traps shut so that they can continue getting funded and feed their families.

NASA and NOAA have been politicized by global warming. They like their funding.

Note: I'm not saying pro/con on global warming, just pointing out the political realities of all of it and that's going to upset people.
I think you're spot on. Without taking a stance on global warming, the problem is much of the "science" has been highly politicized, to the chagrin of real science. That's why a discussion here is heading down a slippery slope with politics at the bottom. I agree we'd be better served to sticking with the specific effects Irma has had on WDW and Central Florida than getting off into the weeds.

I don't see how you feel it doesn't belong here. It's not politics. It's about hurricanes. This thread is about a hurricane. You can agree, you can disagree, you can debate, but you cannot just censor what you don't agree with.

This thread isn't about what causes hurricanes, why they're caused, or predictions of future hurricanes. It's about preparations for Irma, it's impact, and now recovery from it. Mostly with a WDW perspective but also how members and their families are faring. I'm not taking sides in this. If you want to debate hurricane theories, please take it to the chitchat thread.

I don't want to debate anything. I'm not the one who brought it up in the first place. Others brought up the potential for future hurricane seasons and their impact on WDW. It's not irrelevant.

You were the lucky recipient of the reply. It wasn't aimed at you specifically. There is also the Weather thread to discuss this. Believe me. I can engage on this topic with the best of them. Please, not here. Let's keep it focused on Irma.
