Hurricane Irma

I'm not saying they'll nail Florida, but I'll take the long bet on this one.

Global Warming and Hurricanes
Global warming is 'causing more hurricanes'
Is Global Warming Making Hurricanes Worse?
Stormy Weather: More Intense Storms and Hurricanes

DON'T SAY THAT! I'm literally there next year at this exact time. I swear to god, I will blame you if it's worse...

I hope he's wrong too. For two years in a row I've had a WDW trip planned after a hurricane. Last year, I drove down when I still had no power. This year, I'm driving down this Saturday as planned.

If I were a betting man I'd never bet on the weather, and especially not on hurricane seasons.

Can you please let us Floridians get through the disaster that was Irma and the rest of the hurricane season before you armchair prognosticators start taking bets about next year?

Not even the experts at the NHC are talking about 2018.

that is the dang truth... also if I were a betting man I wouldn't trust many exact hurricane track forecasts either - those things have a mind of their own

For those interested in such things, if you ever wondered what cell site traffic looked like on a cell serving a park on a normal day versus a day when the park is closed. Below is a graph showing the data volume on one carrier on one sector of the cell site in the Epcot parking lot. This sector faces the entrance of the park.

You know what's funny?
Maybe you can boss others around, but I'll take a pass. But thanks for playing.

Want me to post some links from several climatologists who say global warming played no role in Harvey and Irma, and really screw up this thread? lol

I won't....I am trying to be good.

Anyways...has anyone seen photos from Pandora? Interested in seeing how it managed.

just... don't

you can find articles all over the internet for whatever anyone wants to believe about anything

Disney fan site... regardless of who wants to believe what - keep this junk off of here
Last I checked, science does not equal junk. One of the links they included is from NOAA, you know, the people we just relied on for the past week for updated information about the hurricane....

It's not about politics, the NOAA link even says it's too soon to determine whether activity by humans is having an impact on it, but it IS happening, and they state that hurricanes and tropical storms will get 2-11% more intense on average by the end of the century

Science regardless of the subject manner should never be considered a political matter.

...but it is. We all like to think it's not, but it is. When the politicians paying you are all for global warming then you say "global warming" and keep your trap shut about the politicians who decide whether you're funded or not.

It's not much different than the chocolate industry funding some "science" to get a "healty benefits of chocolate"-report out. "Chocolate helps in the fight against heart disease!" - suddenly becomes a headline.

Science is not "pure" and is often wrong. That's the history of it. Add to it how everything is politicized these days, including science and it leads one to question their motives. I don't doubt that there are scientists fully on-board with global warming who are very vocal about it. At the same time I don't doubt that there are plenty of scientists who are not on board with global warming and are smart enough to keep their traps shut so that they can continue getting funded and feed their families.

NASA and NOAA have been politicized by global warming. They like their funding.

Note: I'm not saying pro/con on global warming, just pointing out the political realities of all of it and that's going to upset people.

I'm not bossing anyone around... I'm just trying to keep the peace.

leave the political garbage off these forums - now back to our regularly scheduled program
Science is apolical. Discussion of hurricane impacts on Florida within a thread about a hurricane that impacted Florida seems fine to me. It's not like he's posting a Breitbart article.
