Hurricane Irma

The stories from the resorts are nice to hear, but I can't help but notice the huge gap between deluxe resorts on the one hand, and moderates and values on the other. Given that many people in the moderates and AoA likely paid more than people are now paying for deluxes I can't help but feel that the gap should be smaller. And yes, I realize this means nothing compared to someone who's lost their house. The gap just stood out to me.
Edit: this is, of course, solely based on the reports I've seen.

I think some of that has to do with layout. My friends at Port Orleans right now were asked to stay inside earlier than we will be because of the way their rooms are situated. We've been given more flexibility since our room faces an interior hallway, with an option to go down to the lobby.

Maybe this shouldnt be posted in the News forum and I don't know if Disney CMs read these forums, but from the reports of guests that are stuck at WDW resorts during the hurricane it seems like they are doing a fantastic job of keeping up the magic during this difficult time. I just want to say "thank you" from all Disney fans and guests. You all really exemplify Disney Magic!

Even when Disney is doing, by all reports, a fantastic job, somebody will still complain.

Typical.

I think @JenniferS, with all the food pics, is staying at a moderate.

I understand that, but it shows in the reports. The praises come mostly from people staying in deluxes, with the exception of @JenniferS here. I'd be interested to hear the low-end side of the story.

I am on another continent so I have nothing to complain about. I specifically stated that it was just something that stood out to me, so don't twist my words. And to be frank you've been jumping in on this thread mostly to complain when something is not to your liking, not to actually contribute much to the conversation.

I think most people are concerned more with safety rather then stomping because one resort got more cookies then another...

I don't mean the number of cookies... All I'm saying is that I'd like to hear all sides of the spectrum, because I can imagine that riding out the storm at the CR will be a very different experience from riding it out at ASMu. You only (mostly) hear about the high-end experience.

ETA: but I'm not here to pick a fight, so let's drop the subject.

CNN just reported Irma is now a Cat 2. Expected to remain a hurricane through at least Monday morning. Naples expected to get storm surge of 10 feet or more.

If there are guests having negative experiences, I'm sure we will hear about it.

People are losing their homes but you're worried about the "experience."

Unbelievable.

Part of it may have to do with the layout of the resort itself. Most mods and values don't have a convention center and the Rooms don't connect directly to the lobby. It's probably much easier to get guests to move into a centralized location from their rooms when the layout of the resort allows them to.

I literally wrote that this is meaningless compared to losing your home, so again, don't twist my words.
This whole thread people have been pushing for non-Disney but hurricane related conversation to end, because the thread should be about the hurricane at Disney or trips affected by the hurricane. And now that I'm talking about riding it out at WDW I'm the bad guy? Please.

If you go look at Instagram stories it looks like all sorts of charcater Meet and greets, dance parties and movie screenings are happening at values.
