The good news is that should it hit Orlando, while it will have strong winds it will be a tropical storm. Won't be the first or last time the resort gets hit. Now let's see how many vloggers will try to live stream from somewhere in the resort as it hits. Some are already promoting they will be there tonight before it hits :banghead::facepalm:

Partially used multi-day theme park tickets with a usage window impacted by Hurricane Ian related park closure will automatically be extended to use the remaining entitlements through any date through September 30, 2023.”

This is a great example of all the complexities involved that need to be vetted before they make these releases. This is why it takes so long. If they didn’t have this in, they’d be flooded with phone calls asking ”what about”.
They were able to say "parks closed" on their social media accounts without all the extra stuff. There was no reason they couldn't do it on their website with all the details to follow later.

Although I agree with your point in principle.. but this is not a “ complexity” as you call it. My wife is a Disney travel agent and just yesterday she looked at me and said..” what do you think they will do about the people who have tickets”? I said in 10 seconds after she asked..” just extend them a year for everyone”. Now either I’m a genius, which I’m far from.. or this particular problem is not a hard thing to fix. They could have thought about this days ago. It’s not that hard.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Wow! Our unused Irma park days were extended to 09/09/30!

I was sat in connections cafe when this came through. Everyone’s phone seemed to go off together, and everyone reaching for the phone to check the update. Was honestly like something from a disaster movie.

Guess the next two days I just hunker down. Could go for a swim in the pool at my Villa, except the villa management company sent guys round to dump all the pool furniture in there. It’s hard work swimming round semi submerged sun loungers.

The decision may seem obvious but the mechanics of actually making it happen so expiration dates on all those tickets are and can be updated isn’t something a magic wand does. They have to confirm the system can do it and how and get that in place or they’ll be slammed into the ground with complaints.

As of right now with the current track the eye will be passing directly over WDW Thur Mid day (Edit that’s MK.) If the track moves further south it will mean much more rain, however, tracks are speeding up so that will limit rainfall. The current rain graphic is based on the 2pm forecast. This map is the 5pm one This current track has a Wed afternoon landfall and a Thur night Atlantic splashdown. Once you are South and west of the eye the rain will end quickly due to the front. This is really touch and go.

Mayor Dennings listed the areas prone to flooding. Lakes of Windermere on Reems was listed. That's right behind MK.

Projecting rain exceeding 12 inches in the area. I doubt WDW will reopen on Friday.

What good is it extending these tickets for end of month?!? How many people are gonna be able to stay longer bc of work/school
Lets say not to mention now in theory need to book extra nights…. Should have done the right thing and just gave everyone who cant extend their stays a comp ticket for each day which i hope they do on a case by case basis…

I stand corrected didnt realize it was 2023….

So, keep telling me to give it up. Or you can give up telling me to give it up.
When your situation clears up in due time... will you give it up then?

You're fighting like Disney is misleading people.. when in fact you're simply that the website isn't updated FAST ENOUGH... for a time period that really is meaningless.
