How WDW Co. spins ...

JenniferS

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
It depends on how many people they let in. It doesn't really make fiscal sense but there's plenty of rich people in this world that would like to experience the parks with less crowds. If you can get on every ride as a walk on? Might be worth it if you can afford it. I think a lot of people just immediately react based on their own circumstances but are you angry that you can't stay at the four seasons too? Capitalism allows for this stuff. I'm not saying I want any of these upcharges but I definitely anticipate it working out for Disney. We can call them suckers or stupid or whatever but like I said to some people that kind of money is not a big deal, especially if the experience is pleasurable.
My husband thinks it's marvellous. He hates crowds. I mean hates crowds. I literally saw him mentally ticking off the number of rides we could hit with that limited number of other people in the park.

Now that it's just the two of us going regularly, sans kids, it's really no more expensive than a nice dinner at Narcoossee's.

And I never even told him about the ice cream and bottled drinks.

That's who Disney is looking for. And they found him.

I don't know. That is his problem. And his Legacy is as follows: Shanghai Disneyland, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm ... not really anything else.

And those ticket prices on the parties will spike. They already have. Look at what they charged in say ... 2004 and today. Disney also reads forums like this. They know that a Christmas or Halloween party ticket is actually a great deal for people now that they allow 4 p.m. entry. You are getting all sorts of extra entertainment and goodies for less than the cost of a one-day ticket. They are looking to end EVERY value at WDW ... whether it is getting comped by your cast family or friends ... bringing back your resort soda mug ... parking close in in a main lot or visiting a resort (even to spend money) ... using various discounts that always get smaller and more restrictive ... killing EMH (and they are doing that!) ... etc etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone is being paid to cull the best deals and loopholes that you would read about here and on the DIS and report on how to 'fix' those ...
This news is just disgusting. I think it's time for a break from the site and Disney as a whole.

So now that the MK is going to be closed at 7:00 on those days
Park close is still 10 or 11pm. But After Hours guests can enter at 7pm and stay through to 1 or 2am. Normal guests leave at 10 or 11pm.

It's the same as the Halloween party where you can enter at 4pm and normal park close is 7pm with the party through to midnight.

Stupid? You mean like those same people who pay over $200 For concert tickets? Or hi scalper prices for sporting events? God forbid people feel compelled to spend money on things they love?

People spend $200 for a concert they can't see any other time. Bad example

another way to put it though is if you could see that same concert with more songs performed for you to enjoy for say half the cost earlier in the day, would you want to pay more to see a partial concert late that night?

This is obviously targeted at the Golden Oak & Four Seasons level customer; therefore it will be successful - And also lead to more of these "Special Events" in the future.

No, Golden Oaks level uses the VIP Tour Services. This is more along the lines on GF Club Level and Four Seasons Suite. Or middle class family of four that runs up the credit card and pays it off over 15 years.

I would be there with him. Depending on the number of guests it would be an interesting option for an overseas traveller (whilst the exchange rate is goodish). Could spend the eraly part of the day elsewhere ( uni/Seaworld) and then get to do most of the Magic Kingdom in a cooler quieter time.

Well, there goes my carefully calculated plan to see things like Avatar and Star Wars Land without paying Disney any of my money.

Breathlessly? Really pouring it on. Why don't we just agree that you feel about me how I feel about Disney management and then you can go back to your rock?
I'd bet most FAQs are vetted to some degree and everything involves a certain amount of spin.

A FAQ sheet isn't news and you know that.

Sure. And if you have too much money and limited vacation time I can absolutely see how you can justify paying for this (all the Disney Bloggers/Lifestylers/Podcasters will ... even though maybe two will actually pay for it when they find out a 'rare' foamhead will be there). And if Disney is capping this at 3,000 a night (a number I've heard bandied about), I have no doubt that they will be able to sell 85% of all capacity for the entire test period of it this spring.

You'd be amazed at the number of Plaids I saw on Monday in AK.

This is in no way a supportive post. Just thinking....

I wonder if this means those after 2pm and 4pm tickets targeted at business/convention travelers will be going away. Honestly, with the shorter park hours they are a pretty rotten deal unless you have never been to the park. I could see this being a draw for corporate users.

I wonder what DVC members think about this. I wonder if during the initial break even calculations, this was considered for members. Thinking the increasing costs of parties, and introduction of new up-charges and fees, this is almost going to be mandatory for the dates you choose to use points to maximize your time, and is now going to cost more out of pocket. Buy into DVC, then up-charges for extra fastpasses, extra charge for extra hours, extra charge for tours, extra charge for special events. I am not a DVC member, so I think this may be more upsetting to DVC members, and this is another wrench to throw into our DVC considerations.

Soon you will need a metro card, as there will be subway style turnstiles to get on the monorail.

thats how it is in Tokyo and I have no issue with it - it ensures the monorails are maintained.

If they are limiting this to a small group like you said 3k-5k people then for people that hate crowds and want to just ride rides as many times as they can the price really is not bad.... If they allow that number to increase so you are waiting 20-30 min in each line then the price is not worth it but if they really keep it a small size crowd then it really just depends on the person and if they want to just hit as many rides as they can in a short amount of time.

For me if I was in town for a business trip or just a night or two with the family I would consider it for that reason... gives me time to enjoy the pool during the day.
