- activate the toaster, look inside and you're on Dinosaur/Countdown to Extinction time travel scene

- play the Stacy Must Do Disney on repeat on your television, and nothing else

Oh my hahaahahhaha, I feel like I may be off the idea by the time May 2016 rolls around!!

I was meant to be going to WDW for 2 weeks in the upcoming July with the boyfriend, but due to expenses and times we can't go and will have to look for 2016. I literally feel awful, we are booking another holiday for a week in the canary islands which looks beautiful, but it's certainly no disney.

You kind of dodged a bullet. Between the massive crowd levels and the horrible weather, July is a horrible time to go.
Either reschedule for Late-April/Early-May or Late-September/Early-October. Pleasant weather, smaller crowds.

We have been planning this holiday for so long and it was for my 18th birthday. Not to mention the last few months have been really rough due to personal problems and this just feels like the cherry on top on the cake. A pretty lousy cake.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get over it, and stay excited for a 2016 trip? They is plus sides to it, we will be in a much better financial situation and will stay on property which is a new experience, also because I will have finished my A levels I won't have exams and will be able to go in May which is when I would of much preferred to go. It's just the thought of waiting a whole year again makes me feel sad :arghh::arghh::arghh:.

Anyone had to do this before? Any help would be much appreciated :inlove:

In the unhappy event of a cancelled Disney trip, planning is what keeps you sane, and this website and forum can certainly help you do that. Determine the date of your escape (I would recommend April, late October, and early November), then come here and read trip reports, restaurant reviews, and hotel comparisons. The main WDW Magic site has regular updates on what's being refurbed, added, and plussed at the parks. All this can help ease the pain and build anticipation. I hope things start going better for you, and when you DO go, please post a trip report. Faith, trust, and pixie dust to you! :)

The BEST way to get over your disappointment after postponing your Disney Trip...BEGIN TO PLAN THE NEXT ONE!

We went in May 2013 and it was crowded! We only rode 4-5 rides at the Magic Kingdom. I was very disappointed to say the least with not only the crowds, but the whole trip was a bummer. I was feeling VERY Disappointed when we got home, BUT two weeks after that I was planning my next Disney World trip for December 2017. December is the best time to go IMO, the parks are decorated for the holidays and its just magical being there at that time...parks are USUALLY slow too!
I don't know what your requirements are as far as hotel, mode of transportation, how many parks, do you plan doing other things other than Disney(Sea World, Universal, International Drive or other things), but...

IF YOU NEED ANY ADVICE OR HELP WITH YOUR PLANS, JUST LET ME KNOW I WILL BE HAPPY TO HELP IN ANY WAY! Sometimes I feel like an Unauthorized Disney Vacation Planner for friends and family!!!!

I began looking on this site when returning from my previous trip in June just gone, and it certainly helped time pass, especially looking at trip reports! I will most defiantly write one myself ;).

Thank you very much, I welcome all pixie dust!

Oh what a bummer but good on you for staying so positive, especially with a trip seeming so far but now is a lot closer! Thank you so much!

@PrincessOfDisneyworld ugh so sorry-I totally understand. It stinks to look forward to something and have it crash down. My advice is to keep planning, check out different restaurant menus to see what places you want to eat at, and watch lots of videos to get excited!

DH and I just bought a house so we won't be going back until (hopefully) 5/2017 and I've been planning already. It's a long way away and I'm sure something will change but it's still exciting.

I too had to cancel a trip 2 weeks ago. On the eve of the eve of my trip, I came down with a kidney stone. Holy hell, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I quickly paid a penalty fee to reschedule the trip to the first week of May. I am reading mixed things on here about the crowds and weather in May. Can anyone advise about both? I hate humidity and crowds. Should I bump it back again?

Oh and a cancellation side note, this is the SECOND January trip in a row that I had to cancel. I was supposed to go last January and a pipe broke in my home just days before my trip and wiped out my entire remodel job that I had just completed as well as most of the building as I live in a condo. The Disney gods don't want me traveling in January or something. Its weird because I was going during this time of year for many years.

Thank you for you're reply! Ahh I suppose it helps get you through the days! I was only thinking last night that this summer will be 2 years since a holiday to the Canary Island which feels like it was only last month! Time des fly by, especially with things to keep you busy such as house decorating ;)

Oh dear I'm sorry to hear that, must of been a terrible pain not to mention the disappointment! I think May is the perfect time to go but thats my own personal preference. I know we went on a hell of a lot more attractions than we did in June, I also didn't find the heat as bad, also didn't have to deal with the constant downpours!

Maybe its just fate, January might not be a good time for you, I'm sure the Disney Gods have a perfect trip planned for you

What helps me...

A Disney music playlist
Disney movies
Liquor (this advice only applicable if you're of legal age in the state your are residing in!)

My life is spent singing disney songs and watching movies :D.
3 months to the legal drinking age ;)
