How to get over the disappointment of a cancelled trip?

In all seriousness, just remember, Disney will always be there.

If you go, pretty soon it's over before you know it. When you look back, it was almost better to look forward to it than to actually experience it (well, almost).

Our honeymoon was booked for April 2010 after marrying in March... We intentionally waited a few weeks before going and the day came around and we got within 10 minutes of the airport when I received a call from a friend telling me to look at the news...

So I did...

The Icelandic volcano erupted over night (remember that?!) and we were pretty much the first flight cancelled out of Manchester!
A day earlier we would of been able to spend nearly 4 weeks in WDW when chaos of weeks of flights being cancelled started!
People who got stuck weren't happy as they'd run out of cash etc but I would of maxed out the credit card and claimed it all back when home as I know plenty of people got reimbursed for extra hotel bills etc!

Anyway, we had to re book for July when we could fit it in and other than being too hot for us at times and a bit crowded we had a great time...

Think we're I'm going with this is you get to make all your arrangements in plenty of time and know exactly what's going on unlike us 3 hours away from a flight! :)

I'm genuinely not sure if I feel you was lucky or not! Glad you still had a great time though!

I often thing that, knowing my luck we'll split up and the hope's gone forever ;)

Touch wood.

I felt unlucky as i'd of preferred to have been there the week before and being unable to get home and spend the extra 2 weeks lots of people did!
I'm sure it was a real issue for many but we'd of coped fine!
Seem to remember Disney giving free tickets to those affected...

Oh well, so close to a month there! If it could of held off another day!
Anyway, enjoy your planning etc and the day you leave will finally arrive! We are still 222 days away but countdown started at about 380!

If only!
I'm beginning to feel like postponing is a much better idea anyway :) Ahh good luck to you all! Trip report?

Then it's on to the next one and the next one might have more money to go 3-4 times/year. Always a positive side. You can hope for that as well.

Knowing my luck I'd end up with a complete Disney hater! But then I suppose that wouldn't work out anyway...

Reminder to self to NOT leave this website on around BF.

Maybe! I like to read all the stuff off here and make sure I have a plan in my head etc but I'm not really one for making plans on paper etc and same for reports!
Think I just like to read it all as it keeps me on until holiday time arrives!

Oh i looooooooooooooove writing stuff down, making a packing check list to print off as we speak!

I do enjoy reading them but I'm not one to take a million photos when I'm out, I prefer to just take it all in. I video'd wishes the first time i watched it and didn't feel the real experience until when I just watched it a few days later and bawled like a baby all the way through. The tears started on the night time spectacular show is it called? When the tangled tune came on I literally threw my head back and wailed. Wouldn't mind but ended up deleting the video because some woman's head was in the way, not to mention I got water damage in my iphone a few hours earlier and camera went funny so had to use the front camera. Must of looked a idiot now i think about it holding my phone the wrong way round...

I found myself videoing stuff and taking pics just on my iPhone once and then realised they never really do the place justice as well as feeling like I was missing out by concentrating on holding the phone still etc than just enjoying!
There's always loads better pics and videos around too so I look at those mainly!

Thought you were going to say your phone was water damaged from all the tears for a minute!:D

Me too, I have a whole photo album dedicated to crappy photos that I don't even look at! I hate seeing people more intrigued in their phones then the actual scenery around them.

HAHAHA! Wouldn't surprise me hahahaha, oh why am I full of laughing at the thought :joyfull:

I just say get some good pics of yourselves in good locations and just enjoy the rest!
Like I say, I've shown people at home videos etc to show them how different it is over there as lots of people don't understand why I like it so much and the vids don't do it justice at all!

Yeah the million and one photos outside the castle, spaceship earth, the hat's gone so that's out the window and I don't have any photos in AK actually!

I don't think anyone understands till they've actually been. I used to try and explain to my older brother how amazing it was and he always looked at me like I was mad. He went with his girlfriend and said he turned into a massive child running from ride to ride and begging to meet Mickey Mouse! He has a son now and no way would he sit through a 9 hour flight or even handle the weather, he cries everyday about missing it :joyfull:.

People ALWAYS ask me why I like it if I hate the fair (even the thought of a pirate ship makes me want to throw up), impossible trying to explain that its nothing like fairground rides!

Yeah agree, people just think it's like a normal theme park but don't appreciate the scale and how bloody brilliant it is!
Not a fan of flying but worth the 9 hours!
Shane its only every couple of years but at the same time I think it makes it better when you have that gap!
