How much does Disney Social Media/TDO check on WDWmagic?

DON'T BELIEVE WDW1974 PEOPLE LARGE COMPANIES DON'T TRY TO HAVE CONTROL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA HE IS PAID BY UNIVERSAL TO MAKE YOU BELIEVE SO

Damn it. You outed me. It's true. My name is Tom and I work for UNI. My whole online 'history' has simply been a buildup to this very day, this very moment. I feel so ashamed. I think I'm going to go jump into the giant Potter 2.0 construction pit and hope it puts me out of misery. To all the fanbois I hurt or used (and abused), I am more sorry than you'll ever know. It's true, Disney really is superior to UNI in every way ... oh, and you're all right, Disney is gonna force us to give up Spidey and the Hulk and they will be moving into the MK, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios by the end of the year. ... There goes my career. I'll be working days at the Waffle House on I-Drive and nights ... nights you'll find me in front of any 7-11 on the OB Trail, just a poor old working Spirit doing whatever it takes and I do mean 'whatever' to survive (BTW, what was up with that name you ask? Simple. UNI needed a codename for my identity and it was Project Spirit. ... )

I hear they are putting in mashed potato and gravy machines just like they have the slurpee machines now. So hey, take heart...you can get mashed potatoes any time you want! :D

Wow, apparently IQ points have dropped over the years for a few people... Did some of you choke on Pixie Dust one day and lose some oxygen/brain cells? Of course Disney monitors threads like these. You'd like to know what your biggest fans say...they are usually the first to notice problems...which means eventually your "average" guests will. And wannab@dis...I'm not sure what your getting at with your discussion of "plants" or how they aren't really plants or whatever... They may engage in a controlled way and sometimes I might even agree with what they post, who knows, but if they are paid by Disney to be here and attempt to shape forum discussions, they are plants. And Disney does do that. As do many other companies. It's not a unique practice. And @Clever Name...while I can never quite take your posts seriously due to some of your crazy ideas, they do certainly give me a good laugh.:)

Bubbles ... there comes a point where you realize you are wasting time going back and forth with some people. I don't tell people what they should do (except my many minions of Disney hate here), but I think you're wasting time you won't get back at the end! There are people here who wish to derail the discussion ... period.

Disney has a Social Media Department. They are a media corporation. They have companies contracted to provide advice and analysis. How much more does anyone need to know?

The idea that posts here can be termed unsolicited ideas are ludicrous and there would be no way to prove who saw what. Stuff here is in the public domain. Plain and simple.

Hell, I recall some O-Town based wacko (who was also highly intelligent and highly flawed) who came up with an idea for a reserved ride time system for WDW and put it on the old AOL travel boards. He created the template for what is FP. Disney may well have stolen parts of the system from him, but there's no way that could ever be proven. If you put something out here, even on an armchair Imagineering thread and a company does something very similar, they owe you nothing. Smart people don't put out online ideas they could sell for tens of millions (or more) in the real world. Why am I even bothering? THAT is a good question.

If Disney is keeping a watchful eye on the doings here, I'm sure they're just bubbling over with pride right now on the remarkable sophistication & class of it's fan base.

Disney doesn't regard it's fanbase very highly ... and this thread is certainly showing examples of that.

Not good. I need to lose a serious number of pounds before I head west for Emmy season ... and I've been eating like a Floridian in summer. Not good ... and what am I thinking of now? Pizza!

So enlighten everyone. Cause you and the same few of '74 crew have been whining for several years and nothing has changed. So apparently they aren't responding to the vocal minority around here. Or maybe, they just figured out you all will never be happy!

So you're ignoring the posts in this thread from people who have direct experience either in the same field this discussion is about, through forums relating to other parks/parts of the industry, or any combination of similar circumstances? I can tell you that there are many parks that regard industry websites as free marketing, and I know that from personal experience. I had an off-season construction tour of Diamondback at Kings Island scheduled for a website I worked on at the time that got cancelled due to a nasty ice storm. In exchange for the botched attempted construction tour, I was able to arrange an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at a new haunted house they debuted for that year's halloween event. I could tell you about other things, such as arranging something for one of our Cali members for an update at Magic Mountain, to social media work with the site I was with at the time for Manta at SeaWorld. But, I guess since I'm one of the "'74 Crew" it doesn't matter.

Disney pays attention, and there are several of us that, through personal experience and knowledge, have a pretty good understanding of what that might look like/involve. You can take it or leave it, but claiming its false...yeah, that's not gonna fly.

I had pizza twice today already, but if you put down Flippers or Donatos (man I miss that pizza!), I'd probably chow down again! And you know, Louis' was actually pretty decent, better than the Disney pizza IMO.

Heading for the great escape.
Given the ever mushrooming advertising activity taking place via social media youd think somebody may have just thought I wonder how effective this is/ Nahh thats just mental that costs even more so although things are tight lets continue to pump resources in and hope its working.

I blame the schools.

For the record 74 talks e but then so does everyone else, its just he likes the higher profile and a few others like the counter stance.

Please realize that school is out of session right now. We have an extraordinary amount of posters posing as educated adults.

Certain things will always give them away such as their insistence that rap music is the new classical music or their inability to remember anything that happened before 1994.

Their is nothing more obnoxious than a freshman in college except for certain posters on the internet...

First of all, I would like to say hi to all the Disney Social Media and TDO people who check out WDWmagic.com on a regular basis. It's nice to know there are stalkers of Disney fan sites out there.

Second of all, how much do you think they actually check out this site? Is someone from TDO checking this site all the time?

One of the DVC staff at BLT said he was out here all the time.

I think from a business perspective, it's important to monitor twitter for purposes of damage control for corporate image. Using twitter as a source for legitimate information is about as smart as taking the word of Wikipedia.

Whoa whoa whoa!! Let's not throw Wikipedia under the bus! Too far hakunamatata...too far... ;)

If they do read this thread, may I PUHLEEZE request more water carts?! Especially in the winter! Half the time, it's just as fast to go wait for free water in the CS places. And open the buggars earlier in the winter!

Also, the restrooms are getting much better than they were. Yay. Not as clean as they once were...not even close...but better.

Thanks.
