How much does Disney Social Media/TDO check on WDWmagic?

Your claims that they don't do it at all, as you have claimed numerous times in this thread are unsubstantiated.

You are picking and choosing things in his and others posts to support your position when their points as a whole don't suggest what you think at all.
Just the opposite is true. Disney has never been in the data mining business. They have always hired other companies to do that sort of thing. The reason is simple. Disney is not in the data mining business. I thought it might be more understandable if I repeat the basic information. It's also called knowledge discovery. Disney hires other companies to do this sort of thing because Disney is not good at data mining and it conflicts with their policy. It's also less expensive for Disney to outsource knowledge discovery.

You are free to think and feel otherwise.

Except that he talked about... I will say it again... just so you don't miss it... HE HAS SEEN EX CMS HAVING THEIR RESUMES WITH IT INCLUDED AS SOMETHING THEY DID. Following simple logic, that would imply they did it AT the company they worked for...which would be wait for it, wait for it...Disney.

And of course they are in the data mining business. They want to know who likes what, what people are thinking, what their demos are, what is unpopular, how well received new things are, how unpopular cutbacks are ect. It doesn't matter who is doing it for them. Whether their own employees are doing it, or if they outsourced it, that data is still coming back to Disney. Even if they hired other companies, it's not like those companies just sit on that data...they give it to the people who hired them. And no it doesn't really conflict with their policy, as already talked about numerous times in this thread.

Also...what exactly do you think all those surveys they ask people to take when they are entering or leaving the parks? That is data mining/collection too.

Wow, I actually read all 8 pages. And it's obvious none of you work in the business intelligence field (just sayin', not denigratin'). What everybody is chewing over is called "listening". You'd be surprised there are several companies that do this as their only product and most of the Fortune 500 use them. Why build a capability from the ground up when I can pay a few bucks and get all the data I need? Think of it as more akin to marketing and defining strategy along with some PR thrown in. And y'all are thinking too tactical - they crawl whole sites or sections. The idea is to deal in aggregate sentiment rather than individual posts. We're talking big data in many cases and there's just too much info to deal at a low level. And there's also a learning aspect to refining what you listen for. So you listen across multiple platforms and then consolidate results from each property/site into a big picture for your management.

And yes, Disney does this. I've seen ast least two resumes from ex-CMs whose job role dealt with this social media function.
^bingo!

You're mixing up your data points.

You're mixing up your data points.

And your logic is so full of holes, virtually everyone who has posted in this thread has punched a hole the size of Alaska in your arguments. Also, you didn't exactly refute any of what I said (or again mostly all of the posters here have said) so I'm going to assume you didn't have any counterpoints that you could back up with any actual facts. Hence the silly flippant comment.

Clearly you have no idea how parks respond to fan communities, especially forums.
So enlighten everyone. Cause you and the same few of '74 crew have been whining for several years and nothing has changed. So apparently they aren't responding to the vocal minority around here. Or maybe, they just figured out you all will never be happy!

Have you learned nothing from this thread? It's not a just few who are supporting the idea that Disney does this. It is not just the "'74 crew" who are agreeing this does happen.

And your phrase "74 crew" is totally silly in and of itself. Some posters are certainly more vocal than others but the "minority" your purport is on here who does think there are legitimate problems that Disney needs address isn't a minority at all. Take stock and observe the threads. Again, some are more vocal but there are many people who took off their mickey glasses (You aren't among them and that's fine, it's your perogative).

Do you think any of the posters here have a dossier at Celebration Place that marks them as "Pixie Duster: Does us more harm than good"?

I'm curious. Do you know anything about Togetherville?

I can see them checking it from time to time. With the amount of whining and complaining that goes on every second of the day here about this change, that change, that chipped paint and that one burnt out light bulb, I'm sure they check it for entertainment purposes. It really doesn't seem like they're listening though so idk.

If Disney is keeping a watchful eye on the doings here, I'm sure they're just bubbling over with pride right now on the remarkable sophistication & class of it's fan base.

It's a social media network for little kids. Disney bought it last year, and (I think...) closed it down this year.
Yeah...about as relevant as Margaritaville to this thread.

It is funny that people seem to think they would read it for feedback and only that. Most don't realize that the nature of some items posted could be sensitive to leaks, posted copyright infringement (learned the hard way with a few DMCAs on a different site), and what not. I guess it is too big of a picture for some to think that more goes on on fansites for the company to watch than just feedback.
