How much do you spend?

We spendt about $5500 last Sept for family of 4 (one under 2). We stayed at BC and did the plan with 3 meals (which I booked almost every character meal I could) for 7 days. We figured (after hubby kept all meal receipts) that if we had just gotten passes and room and paid for everything else (incl. all the extras like dessert which we would have not gotten if we weren't on the plan) we overpaid about $3000, but we were afraid we would go down there and nit pick about the prices of everything if we weren't on a plan. But now we are wiser, and after seeing that the UofA Razorbacks charge more for drinks at the Football games than WDW we know what we will do NEXT time.

We also bought a package with meals included and the nice thing was as you said not nit picking. Let the kids eat whatever they want! As long as they eat something! We also kept receipts and learned that we overspent on meals by about $400 by buying the package. Granted we ate at some really nice places and did 3 character meals including Cinderellas breakfast( which my 2 daughters loved) but we will definately do it cheaper next time.

Meal Plan

Maybe you guys overspent because of kids. I have 4 adults and we got the meal plan and we figured it out to be about even. We did really well and we wouldn't go any other way. We just like to know everything is paid for when we go down there. My cousins went down one year and ate nothing the last day (with kids)because they ran out of money. I would never let that happen!!! We decided if meals are paid for that's the most important thing and you don't have to worry about it. This year we are doing a week at Disney and The Disney cruise for a week. We got the fast food vouchers instead because we figured we would have nice meals on the cruise so that came out cheaper than the meal plan. So all our meal are still paid for in advance and we can spend everything on whatever our little hearts desire (as long as it's not too expensive)!!!

I will pay to visit there because as written on many, many posts, i'm a disneyholic and I will pay whatever I want whenever I go to be happy. I need this at least once a year. Next year I think we will get annual passes and go more than once a year. Then I will stay at the all star or whatever on inbetween trips just to get to my parks!!!!! It's what keeps us going.

And Amen to that

Last time I went back in June 2003, I was at WDW for six days and I spent close to $200 on food alone (no souveniers, just lunch and dinner)

We usually spend $5000 for a 10 day trip to WDW staying at the Polynesian. That doesn't include our three APs either. We also go 2-3 times a year.

To visit Disney for my wife and our 7 children (all of whom are paying age) we spend approximately $11,000 for a 10 day trip. That includes driving instead of flying from PA. But it is worth every penny to see the kids have fun. It is our families favorite vacation destination. Even when the kids are grown and gone we will all still take one family trip to Disney every three years no matter what the cost.

How much $

We (me,wife and three teenagers) live in Georgia so we drove. We spent 7 nights at the Poly. Bought 4-day hoppers, went to SeaWorld, went to IOA two days, mini-golf 2-3 times and drove the little boats many times and ate at O'Hana multiple times. I think we spent around $7K -$8K. And we didn't buy but maybe 100.00 in souveneirs.

When I went for a long weekend in Jan. I had a free tickets (frequent flyer miles) we stayed in my parents timeshare and I used my annual pass, so I only ended up spending btween 400-600$ which really wasn't bad at all.

When we went in August it was another story-I went with my parents, so I'm not sure how much it cost, but it was pretty pricey (although, again, we stayed at the time share and that helps a lot):D

Whether I'm doing a cheaper trip with my friends or a more expensive one with the family, I always have a wonderful time!

In April 2001 we rented a five bedroom house for 14 people. With gas for two vans, all food, tickets, and souvies my husband and I spent about $6,000. It was an awesome trip.

Exactly! We've been wanting to visit the UK for a looong time, and have a separate account for it. We plan on dropping at least $15,000 for 10 days.
By the time we actually go, we should have closer to $20,000 saved; we're waiting until our youngest is at least 12. (And I think he'd rather be at WDW.

I am on a poor measley old Policeman salary, when I went to Disney this past summer (honeymoon) we stayed at CBR for a week, and I believe the total amount of money that we spent was around $2,400. That included everything, and we actually came home with about $600 dollars. We even went there with the intent to buy whatever we wanted to buy. After all, it was vacation!

My wife and I honeymooned in Novembe 02 at Wilderness lodge, ten days, nine nights, all inclusive package, honeymoone room, etc. That was about $11,000, plus we spent about $4000 on stuff. We are going back this November, wife, me, and 4yo daughter, staying at Allstar Movies for 8 days and seven nights for less than $1200. We will spend another $1500 on food and stuff.

YOU CAN GO EXPENSIVE OR YOU CAN GO CHEAP, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO IS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Wow I love this thread. I really like reading all the bargains some people have gotten. The most we ever spent was like $10,000. Sorry to say we will not be doing that ever again. Its only because my mom died, I almost died due to a dr.s terrible mistake and I had to have my 91 year old grandma move in with us so my dh said I really needed a vacation and booked the cruise without my approval no less. Took the 3dss and stayed at the poly.

This past aug. we probably spent about $5,500 and that was well within my budget. I try to save all I can and even priced 2 all star rooms. We took the FTP at the Poly and then did the swan for 3 days. I never let them eat breakfast, only had one good meal a day, usually a buffet and they couldnt get expensive souvenirs. This was also airfare on southwest $950 for 5 and the transportation here $100 and tiffany in fl$100. Our only splurge was letting the ds go parasailing and I reluctantly had to cancel sea world to replace that in the budget. Brought lots of gatorade mix, had refillable mug etc. Had a duffle bag full of snacks etc. It seems like the food takes a big chunk out of our budget, I dont really want them eating hot dogs, burgers and chicken strips for 9 straight days either. Twice we even skipped lunch too not just to save money but ds lost the room charge card once lol and once we ran out of time at the water park.

$3500 for 12 days. Actually you could break that down to three seperate trips. I like to break my vacations up into mini excursions and being a FL resident helps out greatly.

Well, My Wife and I were Disney Store cast members when we went earlier this year. So, our tickets were free. However, I did pay for my daughter, which was under $200.00. I booked 3 rooms, for the rest of the family that was visiting also. But, for ourselves, all in all, we spent just under $1000.00 for 6 days/5 nights at the All Star Sports Resort, which includes everything for our trip. And considering we drove from Austin, Tx., I think that was great.
