How much do you spend?

Well, I suppose I am the cheapskate ;) always looking for a bargain. But we are usually going with a group of 8 or so. This next trip will be 9 in our family 4 adults and 5 kids. Last year we managed to snag $90 roundtrip airline tickets on Southwest from St.Louis to Orlando non stop so we got to fly instead of our usual 17hr drive. Then we managed to get Movies for $50 a night.
All in all, I think we spent for our individual family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children although one child was 2 at the time) about $3500. We did the cinderella's breakfast, Liberty Tree Tavern character dinner, the girls got the things they wanted although we didn't give them a free for all. They had a budget and they had their pennies and quarters. I am planning on spending about a total of $4500 for our trip in '04.

oh yeah, maybe the poor cable guy saved for several years. we have friends who have been saving for years and I asked why they were having such a hard time and she said "welll, the travel agency said it would cost our family of 4 $10,000 for a 1 week trip!" I about fainted and quickly set her straight!

It would be nice to not have to worry about the budget, but I willingly cut back on things so that we have extras for Disney!

My wife and I always stay at a Deluxe resort.
We're not high class or rich...we just like the monorail resorts..

When we went with our 3 children in 1990, it cost $1000 per person for a week...total $5000. That included everything...tickets, resort, food, limo, tips, souvenirs etc.

Now just my wife and I go (kids are grown) and it's about $1500 per person for a week. total $3000.

I figure if I took all three of my kids now it would cost us apx $7500....glad them kids are grown!!! :sohappy:

The least I've ever spent was during my college days.

Six of us rented a car and drove the 22 hours: $60 each.
Rented a 2 bedroom condo unit: $175 each.
4-day ParkHopper tix: $150?
Food: Approx $250

Total: $635 not including any souvenirs or trips to that "other" park.

Cheap, cheap, cheap. But fun, fun, fun!

Our June trip was about $1500 for four days, we stayed at the Beach Club. The trip in 10 days to All-Stars will cost us approximately $383 for the room (9 nights) and air fare is $220 for the both of us! Bargins all around and I will buy my husband the annual pass (finally!!) I don't know why I didn't do it back in April, I would have saved even more money:brick:

Heck, we were able to get round trip (non-stop) flights from New Orleans to Orlando for $317 (everything included and that was for the both of us). Of course we used Southwest...I don't know if that is good or bad.

See its costs much more for us from farther away. We spent over $1000 on airline using Southwest and almost $300 on a rental car for 9 days. Plus we had to spend over $100 for a hotel near the airport for the night beofre we left so we wouldnt have to drive almost 3 hours to get to the airport by 7 am. We have already planned this next time to not get a car and fly into Orlando instead of Tampa. Use the shuttle service. I only put about 400 miles on the car.

The Orlando Airport will put you much closer, but Tampa is a much nicer airport. We usually fly into Orladno and do WDW then visit family in Bradenton (on the Gulf) then fly home from Tampa. Right now Southeast has some great deals. Will probably fly into St. Pete at Easter.

I would have to estimate around 2/3,000. It just depends on things like if I stay onsite or not. I am going in May and got a really awesome rate offsite, and will be saving tons. I am also going with 3 friends, so we will be spliting hotel and gas expense.

On average, Im out at the Mouse's House everyday if I can, if not, every other day. And thats when Im not working.

id say on average I spend, no lie, about 75-100 bucks. You might think that this is very low, but youve got to remember Im out there everyday, or on every other day.

I think the most I ever spent in one day is 600-700 bucks. Its mostly thanks to my second Commander jacket that I bought for backup from ISTC (AKA Mission: Space), and, since many of you know my story with ISTC, I have every peice of merchendise from the attraction (And I mean the real stuff, not the crap you could buy at Kennedy Space Center), Im talkin the shirts, models, hats, posters, glassware, ect.

Heck, my car is like an X-2 in a way, Mission: SPACE Mickey anntenna topper (Very hard to find at this point), MS Bumper stickers, heck I even had a paint job done and had the ISTC logo put on my car....

Let's see, I went shortly after 9/11 so I got some great deals:

Flight - free with frequent flyer miles
Transportation - $80
Polynesian - $700 (7 nights at $95 a night)
Tickets - $400 (had some credits)
Food - $500 (2 people)
Souvenirs - $1000

So, the total was about $2700 for a January trip.

$220 - My Flight
$200 - DGF Flight

$60 - Mears
and the rest is just Miscellaneous costs i.e. Lunches, waters, dole whips, parking at the airport, etc.

The wife and I are going in three weeks for 7 nights at the All Stars, with airfare from Kansas City and Ultimate Park Hopper and Meyers it came to $1400. Add another $1000 for food and "stuff". Sounds pretty reasonable. Expedia rules!

I have read that alot of you on here use online sevices for your travel...ie. Expedia, Orbitz,.... I am kind of ignorant when it comes to these places......also scared to wait until the last minute to get cheap airfare. Could someone please clue me on their success stories. I just have a hard time waiting to get airfare and then end up missing out. I am traveling with 3 kids so I dont need any "surprises". It cost us $960 to fly from Manchester N.H. by way of Nashsville to Tampa and back , no stops on the return. My wifes Garndmother lives near Tampa so it was easier for us. Next time we are going to Disney only. No rental car. We will also get family to drive us to the airport and not have to pay for the extra night hotel and parking. We can fly either out of Portland( our local airport but usually $100 bucks per ticket more expensive) Bangor, Pease(N.H.), Manchester N.H., or Boston. Any tips would help. The cheaper I can show my wife the next trip can be the beter chance I have of talking her into it.:D

My plan is to have a success story next year. Expedia is easy - just input your dates and search as if you have every intention of buying.

This year I saw a non-stop roundtrip for about $200. I figured it might even go lower since I had no basis for comparison. Well, it didn't. When it hit $300 I said, that's it, and bought the tickets by calling the airline on the phone. Since then the same flights have gone back down to $250 for a while and now they're somewhere around $450!

My point is next year I'll know what a good price is when I see it. Hope this helps.

I bought our tickets threw Walt Disney World.com got a package deal with moderate resort and ultimate park hopper tickets for 1600.00. My husband works for a airline so. My son and I got space positive seats . My husband and other son had to non-rev down and back ( free if there is room ). Mears was 104.00 for the 4 of us. I worked a part-time job and saved hard cold cash to take down. No credit cards. Its sooo worth it!!
Non reving (free if there is space ) is very nerve racking!

Believe me when I tell you this..................it's because your a local. I will pay to visit there because as written on many, many posts, i'm a disneyholic and I will pay whatever I want whenever I go to be happy. I need this at least once a year. Next year I think we will get annual passes and go more than once a year. Then I will stay at the all star or whatever on inbetween trips just to get to my parks!!!!! It's what keeps us going.

My parents just payed $760 for passes to Universal for 2 years, it includes parking and has discounts on food, now I still cant imagine spending at least $200 for a family of four to go to one park for one day, but I guess you all keep our economy going, which is a good thing

I spent around $550.00 total for myself. I think it was about the same for everybody else. My group saved money by driving, buying one-day one-park tickets, and by staying off Disney property:cry: . We did have a great time though!! And if it means going to Disney on a budget or not going at all, I'm all for saving some money!
