How Many Days Per Park

Not including travel days, we will be at WDW for 9 days. We are planning on spending two days at each park with one day "off". After reading some other threads on the topic, I get the impression we don't need two days for each park.

How many days do you feel is adequate per park?

Thanks in advance,

N

It depends on how busy the time you are going is...

On a slow period, Epcot and MK each take a day and DHS/AK each take a half day. Busier days, MK takes probably 2. Epcot can still take one if you hit Soarin' and Test Track early. Studios can take a whole day if you watch all the shows. AK is still a half day at best.

Here is how many days we give to each park....

Magic Kingdom - 2 days+
EPCOT - 2 days+
Animal Kingdom - 1 day
Hollywood Studios - 1 day

I agree here for the most part, but if you want to see all the shows at Hollywood Studios, you might need an extra half day. They tend to schedule Indiana Jones, Lights Motors Action, and Beauty and the Beast all around the same times, so you have to spread it out across the whole day.

Other than that, this kind of planning will let you see pretty much everything you want at the parks and still have a few days to park hop to your favorites.

This is what we do as well. MK and Epcot need 2 days to really see and enjoy everything. DHS and AK dont have that many attractions or are not as big to need 2 days.

Are you travelling with children? If so, you might take into account a slower pace, as they may want to stop at every...single...character they see! :ROFLOL:

We took our 4 year old back in April and, normally, we would only need to spend a day at DHS and AK each....maybe not even a whole day either. But this time, we ended up scrapping plans for Universal and IofA in order to make up for lost ground at those two parks. Because we "wasted" so much time standing in line for characters and such that we didn't feel like we got hardly anything done.

But as a general rule, I would say maybe 2 days allotted for MK, 2 for Epcot, one for DHS and one for AK.

If you want to see and do every thing...

MK-2 days
Epcot-2 days
DHS- 1 1/2 days(if you plan to ride all the rides and see the shows)
AK- 1 day

Magic Kingdom....2 days Once during the day and once at Night.
Epcot................3 days...Once during the day, once at night, and once more to buy all the gifts we have spotted on our previous 2 visits.
Animal Kingdom...2 days. Once to do all the rides, and once just to walk around, have something to eat, and enjoy all the sights.
Hollywood Studios. Just one day here is enough.

Are you resort guests or day guests? If you are resort guests be sure to take park hopper option.

AK is still a half day at best.

WRONG!!! AK is a full day park. There is so much to explore and enjoy. It isn't about running from ride to ride. You can blast through any park in a half day if you really want to.

Since we have a 9yo and 5yo, we do 2+day of arrival at MK. 2 Days at Epcot(we could actually use an extra day there too). 1 at AK and 1 at DHS.

If we were going without the kids, I would do 2+ at Epcot, 1 at MK, 2 at AK and 1 at DHS.

So much depends on the age of your children, what interests them, and what you hope to accomplish. Many people make the mistake of spending too much time in the Magic Kingdom on their first visit, and are disappointed. It's a great big (Disney) World out there, and you need to give each park it's due.

Our favorite parks are Epcot and the Animal Kingdom. We spend more time in them than any others. And don't believe anyone when they say any of the parks are "half-day." They just don't get it.

I'm gonna completely buck the trend here and say a day at each minimum. At least that is what I have spent on the last half dozen trips and have been able to do a large majority of what I want. I really don't see how people still think that DHS and AK are a 1/2 day park. To catch all the shows and do most of the attractions isn't easily done. Doable, yes, but you really won't enjoy it. For instance, adding up the run times listed on Steve Soares site for DHS, it's 4 hours. That's a third of the day already (assuming 9A - 8P). Never mind walking around, waiting for the shows to start, waiting in line for seats. Toss in that, and eating, easily over half a day. And we still haven't done any rides or met any characters yet.

The only way I can see people doing them in a half day is if they write off attractions and don't go on them. In that case, you may be able to do it in half a day. But why?

Additional days? Always helpful. But it depends on what you want to do. If you like thrill rides, then you may be better off with a second day at DHS. Or if you are studying to be a zoologist, then AK. If I have the luxury I plan those days as it comes. If it rained one day at AK, you really would need a second, while rain at Epcot is usually minimal downtime.

What do you all do at AK for TWO DAYS???? (That was in no way meant to be rude, just incredulous, promise! :)) After the Lion King Show, Nemo, the Safari, EE a couple times, the Parade, Dinosaur and Primevil Whirl AND even eating lunch at a sit-down restaurant...what is there? (I do not mention It's Tough to be a Bug because I and every child I've ever gone with find this terrifying:rolleyes:) We can do AK from 8 AM - 5 PM with a table service meal and do EE at least 3x. I personally wouldn't waste time at the watch planet, as we have zoos that cost $3 to get into back home, as well as wildlife trails.

Or am I just missing the "I love animals" gene? :lookaroun I could spend three days at DHS just riding ToT, RRC and watching Fantasmic and Little Mermaid all day, so it must just be about preference!
