How long is too long?

We usually go for about 6 days. We'd drive down on day 1 spending the day at the hotel swimming or whatever. Park, Park, Park, Park, then the last day for travel. This past June, we did 7 days, using the extra for DQ and a dinner show out in town. I am thinking to do maybe 10days since I want to also go to US/IOA. DH thinks that may be too long. I'm wondering, too. I've heard of people spending 2wks on property.


How long do you go?

Have you ever gone and realized it was just too long?

1.5 days of driving, 11.5 days on property, 1.5 days home.

I only spend 5 days in the parks. Then the rest is split between water parks & the pool. Believe me, spending 6 days relaxing at Disney is amazing. If I just did the parks and went home, I'd feel more exhausted than before I left.

Day 1 drive....day 2-6 parks each day (yes we are exhausted LOL) and day 7 drive home.

It is our 1 big trip a year so we pack everything into a week.

I have gone down for as long as 10 days to as few as 2 days. Last year I did one trip of 2 days which was driving down on a Saturday and hitting Seaworld that evening for a couple of hours than going to the Magic Kingdom the next day at 8:30am and finally leaving around 3:30 am from there. I than went to Universal for 3 hours that Monday before driving back 12 hours to home.

I have been three times this year already with two of them being one week trips and the third one being a weekend trip. I am leaving tomorrow to go down for another week long trip. I just love hitting the parks and will hit them every day including on the day I arrive and again on the day I leave.

2 weeks for me and my DD's 13 and 9. My mom joins us for one week and then DH comes for the 2nd week. We have time to leisurely visit the parks, and still have time to hang out at the pool, visit water parks, go to DQ (if we want), or play miniature golf.

We did 7 days our first trip back in 2005 and 10 days the last two and 10 days seems to be just about perfect. We drive down from Canada and spend a day and a half driving down and another day and a half driving home, so we figure we might as well make our stay down there worth it. Plus, you can't go wrong with the price by adding the 3 extra days. I think it works out to something like $30 each for the four of us to go from 7 days to 10 days, so why not really.

We usually go off property a couple of times each trip and hit up both water parks and DTD a few times to break up the trip. As much as I LOVE WDW, I don't think I could spend every waking moment of the trip in the parks. It is nice to just relax and take a mini vacation from the vacation once in a while. :p

We started out doing 7days/6 nights and last year we were up to 9day/8night and this year we are doing 8days/7nights on land and then 4 days/3 nights at sea. So a total of 11 days and 10 nights. THe more time you spend the more time you can truley relax on vacation. It got really old needing a vacation from vacation when we spend 7 days NON STOP....not for us any more.

Day and half to get there, 10 days including day of arrival in the parks, 1/2 of a day at DTD, day and half to get back home. We do not bother going to the pool, golfing etc. Its all 'park time', rope drop to dark. Thats what we came for! We can rest on the long drive home.:ROFLOL:

I agree that the longer trips definitely give you more time to relax and ensure you get to what you want to. Only doing 1 day at each park leads to lots of rushing around. But the ability to have 2 or more days at each lets you relax. You can now say, do rides during the parade and fireworks one night, with practically no lines. Or watch Illuminations from 2 totally different countries. Or take the extra time to do DQ, or play mini golf, or go to the water parks, whatever.

It really comes down to what you do in the parks. I like to take pictures, so an extra day works out well as it gives the DW some time to relax, and me time to take pictures. Like characters? You can easily spend at least half a day getting pictures with every single character in a park. Easy. Do all 4 parks, and voila! Like music? Spend a whole afternoon watching Off Kilter and the British Invasion.

If your DH just runs from ride to ride, then yeah, 4 days is enough. But has he ever wandered the alleys of Morocco? Or done a tequila tasting in Mexico? Or wandered around the paths on Tom Sawyer island? Things like that are what helps to set WDW apart, but they require the luxury of time to experience.

My philosophy is I can relax at home, so when I'm at Disney I want to do the parks. That said, and it's true for me no matter where I am, after about 5-6 days I'm ready to go home.

And I disagree that 1 day per park means a lot of rushing around. Especially when 2 of the parks don't have enough attractions to make up a full day.

Normal UK holidays (vacation) are 14 days... so that's what I'm used to. When I went in 2009, we spent EACH day in the parks!!! Madness!

the longest we did was 2 day drive, 8 days at WDW, 2 day drive. Now if it was just my family, we could have gone longer but my daughter brought a friend and we were ready to bring her back by day 2.:brick::brick:

14 days in a single trip is our longest and normal length of stay. That does not include driving time. That's 14 days at the World. In a year, our longest has been 21 days at the world (non-consecutive). Do we ever get sick of it? NO!!!!
