How do you brainwash your children into Disney?

My son is 2 years and 3 months old now. And, being the WDW nut that I am, I have begun my indoctrination program with him. LOL I'm trying to teach him the characters, and get him to recognize them, or WDW for that matter, when he sees WDW on TV, or the character somewhere.

On my computer hutch, I have several WDW mugs. Some I bought at WDW, others at antique shops or rummage sales. Sometimes when I'm interneting, I'll get him up on my lap and get the mugs down and tell him the names of the characters. Apparently, I've done it enough that he's getting pretty good at recognizing them. He recognizes Goopy, Pooto, (as he pronounces those two), and Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. He still has a little trouble with Minnie Mouse. Alot of times he calls her Mickey Mouse since the look alike, but other times he actually gets it right. I have a Dixie Landings mug on my computer hutch, and he's pretty good at recognizing Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox (who he pronounces as "Ber Pox") and Brer Bear.

He even recognizes the Disney logo and, if I didn't know any better, I would think he can read. LOL He has a Winnie the Pooh musical book that has the Disney Logo on the front, and he'll point at the word and say "Deeznee". The other morning when my wife went in to get him out of bed in the morning, I actually heard him from my bedroom saying Donald Duck and some other character names.

And when I ask him where Mommy and Daddy are going to take him someday, he will answer "DeezWord". LOL

So apparently, my brainwashing program is succeeding. :D

Just curious what the rest of you do to get your kids indoctrinated at an early age?

HA!!

Well, I think my older DD doesn't need much encouraging because she LOVES the princesses. The stupid Great American Movie Ride was my demise because after riding that DD is terrified to go back to WDW because of the 'pow pows'. I am slowly trying to convince her that there is so much more to Disney than the pow pow ride.

My younger DD is coming around too. She recognizes Pooh, Nemo, Me-Mowe (Mickey Mouse), and Rella (Cinderella).

How could kids not enjoy a trip to WDW anyway?? Is there really need for brainwashing... I don't think so. :)

^^Funny and sick at the same time...:ROFLOL:

My daughter is 2 1/2 years old and has been a Disney fan forever already. And we didn't force it, she must of inherited it. She has loved mIckey mouse clubhouse for a long time, and loves every character. She has 4 princess dresses and knows them all by name and what not. Not to mention this comming November trip will be her 7th time there already. She know where we are going to eat already, she knows shes having breakfast with the princesses in Norway and lunch with Cinderella in the castle, and dinner with Cinderella and the prince and her family (park fare).

So just continue to share your love for Disney and your daughter will love it also. Besides its Disney and what kid doesn't love Disney. By the way my wife and I are crazy about Disney but have nothing in the house or crazy like that, just stuff in her room as far as the princesses and what not.

We did just buy her a big girl bed and when we where at the furniture store they did have a metal Cinderella carriage bed. But we thought that it may be cute now but not in a few years. LOL

Before our kids were born my wife and I had already amassed a great video collection of all of Disney's animated feature films and other features. When the kids were very little we would play a movie now and then to entertain them. Snow White was my youngests 1st favorite, and still is and my oldest's favorite was the Little Mermaid. As I mentioned in my recent trip report they wanted a Tinkerbell room so I redocorated it so. We have been gradually replacing the VHS versions of our collection with DVDs. When they were babies we of course loaded their room with plush disney characters and had Disney sheets and blankets on their cribs and beds now. My youngest still has the Pooh blanket that was in her crib and still sleeps with it. She brought it down with her on our recent trip to WDW. The oldest is into Hanna Montana and the youngest is into High School Musical, that's because they've been watching the Disney channel more.

I don't know if they'll ever have the same passion as my wife and I, all we can do is plant the seed and see if it will take.

Maggie was not really into Disney for a while...it was all about Dora and Blues Clues...and we never pushed Disney..well more then having stuff in the house and going often..LOL..but about a year ago she started watching The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and knows all the characters and songs and always asks to go to "Didney Wurld"...:)

She has been obsessed with Tigger and Winnie the Pooh for a while and could name all the charaters.

She also only likes The Little Mermaid...

We just watch the shows and movies and show her pictures and bring her to WDW and she gets excited.

She remembers certains parts of our past trip in March..Mickeys house and the "fwying carpets" and Dumbo...so she will mention them occasionally..and every time she gets in her toy car or we get in ours she will say...We going to "Didney Wurld"..:)

ok...not having kids myself (yay birth control!...so far it's working) :D I don't know if I should be on this board but here's a suggestion that may work.

Keep in mind I like to start with the classics but there's a lot of ground to cover with everything Disney related

^^^ Eww!!!^^

Honestly the love for WDW is definatley in my daughter's DNA. Her first trip was this past April and for an almost 2 year old I couldn't believe how much she enjoyed every minute of our trip!
Currently her favorite movies are Toy Story 1 and 2 and The Little Mermaid. She either asks for Buzz or Ariel and when the movies begin and it shows the animated castle and the words Walt Disney she gets so excited and will run up to the T.V. and say "OHHHH!!!" Blows my mind!

The oldest daughter is 9 and can remember her last trip so she is naturally obsessed. She watches any number of the travel channel specials we have dvr'ed in the last few months. She also teaches her sister 6 years younger on the movies and characters with her Birbaums Kids Guide. Now the little one requests Samantha Brown's Disney Holiday Magic nonstop. She wants Mickey to kiss her forehead and Cinderella to dance with her.

Lol..love this topic!! Well the kids were brainwashed by us at a very early age with of us course no help in the matter!! Our home tastefully done in every room is either disney themed or something to do with disney , as well as the outside and our cars as well(which by the way have various disney music themes playing at many times, monorail speal , disney resort tv ..to name a few , and yes both girls 7 and 4 know them word from word)..Their rooms disney, clothes disney...

For the longest time, my oldest thought every plane in the sky was going to disney and only disney....And yes we have many samatha brown or any other show pertaining to disney (yes even when jon and kate plus eight went to disney as well) DVR"D.... Videos that we made while down there we watch or look at pics...constatly ....Conversations usually always involve disney with our girls.....They have been to disney since they were one and have been once, twice even three times a year for 7 years(poor, poor things huh?)....
They've been out with aunts or grandmother and maybe a certain smell , such as th elittl eone tellin her aunt when a bus went by'That bus smells like the disney buses" or the smell of cotten candy at a local fair...smells like disney...Or our oldest pointing out a hidden mickey in her peas to her grandmother..Yes their brainwashed and were so proud of it!!!! Hopefully forever!!!! Like us..... Did I mention that the oldest likes to say that "yes , we know the secret"!! Yes we're DVC members as well....

Could be worse....And we'll be getting our fix in 29 more days...ohh make that 28!!!

As you know I have three kids and they all love Disney, but at different levels. My teen loves it, my middle likes it but thinks that I am nutts, and my son (7) is a freak like me. I am not sure why but he looks at videos on youtube and checks out the picture of the day thread. He watches our home movies and talks Disney everyday. He's just like me! Just tonight he said to me, "Mom, we will always be Disney buddies". I'm not sure how it happened, but I am glad that it has. :D

you know what seems to work on a lot of kids...the songs!!!! Get some soundtracks and Disney park Cd's and kids will be singing along in no time. Then when they get to visit WDW they'll hear lots of familiar music and be able to sing along

Regular visits to Disneyland Paris, Santa always brings lots of Disney goodies, character t-shirts, dress etc, story time, toothbrushes, dressing up costumes, tv, cd in car, dvds, Nintendo DS Games, decorated playroom and bedroom Disney of course, everything really. I didn't realise we are so immersed in Disney on a daily basis - Disney is just pure magic and I love that they LOVE IT too!!! I am glad we didn't sicken them with it:hurl:, I can't imagine then not liking it:ROFLOL:

OUr last trip to WDW gave my DD the bug. She was 2 and old enough to remember it and now at 3 is anxiously awaiting the next one and talking about everything she wants to do.

I took my daughter on her first trip while in utero. She caused havoc (I ended up on bedrest while there) on that trip - but at 10 months old she finally went for real. We have watched the video, pictures, as well as the photopass movie we purchased thousands of times. She has since been back 3 additional times and the addiction has hit. I get "disney'd out" sometimes with how much she talks about it and watches the videos - but I can only blame myself!

It's sad - we are going away on vacation next week for a wedding up in NH, my daughter thinks "vacation" = Disney. Boy, is she in for a surprise!

Our 8 yr old DD is now as addicted to WDW as my husband and I are! Having been there twice, she knows where each ride in MK is and has already planned her adventure for next year.

With our 2 month old, I listened to plenty of WDW music and watched Disney movies while pregnant, so she already is a Disney Child!
