How cool would it be to have a disneyland in new york

They could find land acrost the hutzen and have the parking the ferry station and a monorail station in the manhatten. Ride the ferry acrost the hutzen into magic kingdom. In the winter you watch wishes in a snow storm or even the christmas one. Have heated walkways so they dont have to plow. Or even build magic kingdom on goveners island and reopen the worlds fair instead of building an epcot. I bet they would make money off of that and I bet NYC would support it for all the money coming in to the city.

Plus, the cost to purchase property, and the taxes, would kill them.

There's a reason that WDW was built in the middle of nowhere (back then) in FL. Cheap land, and low taxes.

Also, one of my fears for Disney is becoming too big and in too many places, which waters down the brand and makes it an average theme park like 6 Flags. I want no more expansion!
Plus winter would kill it, no one will vacation to a theme park in the winter when they could go to the same one and it would be warm.

There were actually rumors back in the early 90's i think that Disney was looking at putting a park in the Meadowlands in NJ. They were looking to put a dome of some sort over the park because of the cold weather.

I would have loved for that to happen. Only an hours drive would have been awesome. I would love a park within a 6 hour drive.

NO.

I live in the Hudson Valley (Orange County) New york. First off, New York is a huge state, and there's a lot more to it than just NYC. The Hudson Valley is beautiful, but as stated before, the taxes would drive Disney away. Plus there really Isn't anywhere in the Hudson Valley for Disney to build a major park. The majority of people live in huge developments or gated communities. No matter how much I love Disney, I would never want all that traffic and confusion around me. Plus the amounts of snow during the winter would mean the park would only be open seasonally. Unlike Orlando and Anaheim, the Hudson Valley experiences all of the seasons full throttle. Even if Disney could over look these problems, I guarantee you locals would beat the project down; the park would never get built.

I think Disney could find more practical places, across the country, to build another park.

It would be SO close to WDW. Yes it would be easier for people like me in Massachusetts, but it would be very bad for the brand. It would take away some crowds from WDW though.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
As long as we're on the subject, should we cover everywhere else it'd be cool for Disney to build a park? Trust me, this has been discussed before. We don't need a new thread to use the same answers on the same question.

I think putting Disney in the northern part of the US would be a bad idea. Aside from the obvious expenses, the weather there is horrible (for a theme park). It is not great for guests to visit all year round. Would you want to stand in a long line for a ride in the freezing cold and snow?

It was rumored about 10 years ago that Disney was coming to Long Island, about 20 minutes from me. Lots of land there. It was even in the papers that it was really supposed to happen but the town voted it down. Who really knows?

As much as I would love a disney park within a short drive this is a terrible idea. Anyone who has driven in NY knows traffic is terrible. Could you imagine if there was a Disney World in the area too??? Living in NY there are so many issues to show this wouldnt work many of you have brought up already.

Also i agree this would water down how special WDW is. Honestly if they built one here why fly 1k miles to visit the same thing? Maybe one here would be better though.. TDNY? :ROFLOL:

I live in Western NY, where we have lots of land and no gated communities but I would not recommend Disney expand here either. As a small business owner the taxes on a business, unemployment rates, and all the little sundry fees that NYS builds into almost everything here it would not be a wise move. In fact, because NYS is so bad on taxes it is driving businesses out left and right. We have had owners of business relocate their homes and major operations of that business just to get away from the NYS government. And then there's the weather ......

Living in NYC, I would not want any Disney property built here.

I'd be surprised if Disney had a serious intention to build it that it would actually be built due to the nature of people round here.
A few hundred people managed to scare away ISC from building a NASCAR venue here. Not to mention other projects that were halted midway here like the F1 Circuit.

Why would Disney consider building another park anywhere in the United States?
They would be competing with themselves.

WDW in the East and Disneyland in the West already provide vacation destinations for the US population and other guests.

IMHO
