How California theme parks will enforce out-of-state visitors ban - OCR/SCNG

Seriously, how do I get invited to those Sacramento office dance parties?! You should see me work a go-go cage. šŸ§

And I'd bet you'd be a better dancer than anyone up there if this is the best they can manage. lol

On a vaguely related note - I'm currently working my way through the most EPIC binge watch as I wanted something that would take me the year to watch while I wait to win the lottery of a park reservation lol - I'm about 175 episodes into a 1225-episode series (Dark Shadows gothic soap opera 1966-1971) and some of the absolute funniest bits are watching extras in the 'bar' do the whitest, most uncoordinated dance moves you've ever seen to the three pre-recorded groovy numbers that the bar jukebox always plays.

Possibly the best parts though are the announcer over the end credits as he explains how "Samantha gets into some magical hijinks when Darrin's boss comes to visit - on a new episode of Bewitched - in color!" or "Be watching tonight as Samuel Goldwyn presents Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra in 'Guys and Dolls' on the Wednesday Night Movie!" - and then realizing that movie was barely a dozen years old at that point so it would be the equivalent of someone now watching "The Dark Knight" or something else only a dozen years old. It's like a time machine watching this show. Or WandaVision. :D Crazy.

/end randomness

I love Dark Shadows!

They were in a small town in Maine, so we can't expect them to have much soul when a good song comes on the jukebox.

I'm a rare breed of old white guy, in that it requires only half of one drink to get me out on the dance floor. But if Sam Cooke's Twistin' The Night Away comes on, I'll do that even dead sober. Also Dee-Dee Sharp's Mashed Potato Time. It's when I've had a drink that I'll start pouring my gravy on my mashed potatoes with my thumbs and elbows, or advance from the Twist into the Watusi.

With the parks reopening at possibly 25%, and with a typical pre-pandemic day being filled with 50% or so mostly local APs, Disney could have reopened only offering reservations to locals who held APs at the time they ended the program. That would easily had filled allowed capacity in the initial phase and ensured that guests were not traveling very far to be there.

Of course that doesn't support the hotels, Disney's or Good Neighbor.

And maybe they will do something like that. The funny thing is Disney has said almost nothing about anything other than they plan to reopen at the end of next month. But they may still do something special for recent AP holders. And sure most will be from the LA/OC area (as I imagine most of us are here) but there are still tons of AP holders from other areas of the state too. There are even people outside of not only California, but the country as well that had APs. I knew one of them from Australia. He use to get an AP every year for the last five (but his last trip was in 2018) and just used that for the 1-2 weeks he stayed because he still saved more overall by the amount of food and merchandise discounts.

But nothing stops them from doing things like a legacy AP night or something like the old days. They could even open the park for the first week for AP slots only. Either way, the overwhelming majority are going to be locals anyway, at least at the start.

If only there was a way Disney could ban everyone who supported keeping the parks closed for a year.

Anyone who wanted it closed for a year are probably people who still has no interest in going back soon even after it opens. ;)

My own uncle thinks its crazy to still open up in mass areas even now, so trust me he won't be anywhere close to any of those parks when they open. But he's never loved DL either.

We live in Humboldt County about a five hour drive north of San Francisco. For decades, and until a couple of years ago, my husband maintained an AP because his job frequently sent him on trips within easy reach of the resort, and that is his happy place.

If they wanted (initially at least), they have the means to restrict reservations to SoCal local recently canceled APs . But again, I don't think they want that because of the hotels in and around the property, and as I understand it, a will to support the business recovery in the surrounding resort district.

Aww....

Mickey wants my money, but the State of California says 'no' and slaps our hands.

Sigh...

Sorry Disneyland, and all my wonderful adventures I would like to return to....
We shall have to wait a little longer before once again we will be frolicking among the hills.

Welcome to most of the world lol. Again this is not a city, state or even a country issue. It's happening worldwide. I desperately want to go back to Japan and Philippines (where my girlfriend is from). But it's practically impossible. I know it;s the internet and we only think of our own backyards but this is still a very global issue. The GOOD thing is now that things are getting better, at least in America, you'll probably have the chance to go soon. At least you CAN go to California and you won't be restricted to stay in a hotel for a week like what my girlfriend has to do if she wants to go to Manila. A few months ago, she couldn't even go and visit her family.

Honestly, did anyone know we had a travel restriction in place? I didn't. I knew we had a 10PM Curfew in place for months that everyone ignored. But a travel restriction is still actively in place???

And yet over a thousand passenger airplanes are flying into California airports from all 50 states and around the world every single day. Amtrak has daily service arriving in California from other states on the Coast Starlight, the California Zephyr, the Southwest Chief and the Sunset Limited every single day. I-5, I-15, I-8 and I-10 have tens of thousands of cars per day coming in from neighboring states.

But California has an active "travel restriction"??? And someone thinks all those people every day are actually obeying it???

Seriously, how do I get invited to those Sacramento office dance parties?! You should see me work a go-go cage. šŸ§

Every day I check in probably 10 different families to my hotel from California who are on ski vacation. And that's just one hotel- not all of the others in the area or the country.

Well, that map obviously is a fraud perpetrated by the right-wing nuts at the New York Times. ;)

Look at Florida. They've had indoor dining and operating theme parks and a reopened economy in Florida for eight months now. And the case rates are nearly identical; those two states are neck-and-neck in case rates per capita after 13 months of Covid.

The staff of the right-wing New York Times are obviously Governor DeSantis fans and hate Governor Newsom! They changed all the hard data for their map! šŸ¤£

March 15th, 2021
Florida..... = 9,239 Cases Per 100K (#29), 11.6% Fully Vaccinated, Unemployment Rate 4.8%
California = 9,178 Cases Per 100K (#30), 10.5% Fully Vaccinated, Unemployment Rate 9.0%

It's all such a fraud. No one is listening to Sacramento bureaucrats any more, if they ever were in the first place.

Honestly, who the heck even knew there was a "Travel Restriction" for California and you are supposed to quarantine for 10 days after your arrival from those other dirty states?

I've suddenly got young family members who are headed to San Diego for a spring break and so I had to reopen the old beach house for them down there and get it ready. They are bringing several friends. They are all smart and savvy young adults from different Western states. No one mentioned or cares about a "Travel Restriction", and in their communication the main concern was the stock available in the liquor cabinet and the working status of the hot tub (in that order) instead of anyone worrying about "Quarantine". šŸ¤£
