Wow Kristin - I never knew that. How long ago was that?

She was diagnosed w/kidney failure at age 12, had her 1st transplant at age 13 (Jan of 1993). That kidney was infected with CMV, and she was having a really bad time with the anit-rejection meds, so she had a second transplant in Sept. of 2002. That one was a dual kidney/bone marrow transplant, so she didn't have to take as many meds after. She's 28 now and is doing fine. In fact, she ran the Chicago marathon in October.

Not yet. I would like to try it this summer. But I may not have time to. I have several character meals that I want to try before that. My goal is to do all the character meals on property, and I only have 5 to go.

Yes I have done them all except the one in MGM. Now I have never done Crystal Palace for dinner so when I have dinner there during my birthday vacation that will be a first :king:

Yeah, she had to overcome more in her 1st quarter of life than most people do in their entire lives. We've had our issues (as all sisters do), but I am very proud of her and what she's accomplished. The 1st kidney was donated by our Dad, and the second by our Mom. So since my Mom was out of commission after the 2nd one, I pretty much took care of Jen. I was 29 years old, and I was telling off doctors at Mass General when I felt I needed to! :o I would have been the 3rd option, had she needed it...

Oh my gosh!
Your parents each gave her a kidney. Wow!

The ones I need are GF breakfast, GF dinner, Poly breakfast, the new AK breakfast (I got the old one before it closed), and Cape May breakfast. As for CP, I only eat dinner there. The last time I ate there I got lucky and got a group picture with all 4 characters.

Here's hoping she'll never need it!

O yes that is right. Donald has a new breakfast and I have not eaten there yet, but I will be going there to start out my birthday vacation :king:

There was some major guilt involved, too. The doctors were never sure what caused her kidneys to fail. The best guess is that it was some long-dormant hereditary disease that no one in recent history had. So of course, both of my parents blamed themselves for her being sick, thinking that it must have been one of their faulty genes. So they were only too happy to give up a kidney to help her get well!

Awww.

I hope I don't have any background issues like that. I have no way of finding out.:(

So many emotional issues there.
Your family went through a lot and probably came out stronger for it.
