Horizons....

You act like this message board doesn't keep posts over an hour. You suggested we compare wait times:

All I did was say, "Go ahead, compare". It's not my fault the data doesn't exist; (unlike yourself) I never pretended or suggested it did. I will point out again, as I did earlier, that anecdotes in a conversation like this are useless.

How's this for an anecdote? I don't like Mission Space. I rode it once, I didn't find it exciting, it made my 60 year old father nauseous, and we both walked out saying "I can't believe they tore down Horizons to build this." If I wanted to spin around in a circle for 5 minutes I could do so at any Six Flags in the country - as far as WDI goes, I'm even slightly impressed.

Yes, and then you brought up a wait time, and said it was boring conversation, but then keep posting about it. :ROFLOL:

Still waiting on your source for a wait time.

*And by interesting, I mean completely boring and unproductive.

If Mission:Space is so boring why do you keep talking about it?

Your last paragraph clearly shows the reasons behind what you perceive to be truth. You have a negative personal opinion of Mission:Space. You are bitter. You use this bitterness as fact because you are unable to look at the attraction through the eyes of another.

What is this supposed to mean? I don't find it thrilling, however, because some other guy finds it thrilling the first time he rides it, it somehow becomes thrilling to me? Are you saying that the second time (and subsequent times) it's not so thrilling? Because if you are, you're tacitly admitting that WDI built a ride that people won't want to ride more than once - which is the same indictment I made.

:ROFLOL:

You have to be the most bitter person on the internet.

It's been ten years since WDI got rid of your precious ride. Get over it and maybe you might enjoy Mission:Sace.

I mean they'll come back and ride it cause they like it. Maybe it wasn't built for your taste. If you don't like it stay away from it, that's one less second I have to wait for it. Let's face it if you can't name me ride that gets better each time you ride it (maybe Kilimanjaro Safaris) but that's it.

And about the comment about a ride that people won't ride more than once, they did make Stitch's Great Escape.

Also Krack I doubt your brake lock up when you drive, you go through a dark tunnel with no headlights, and I doubt you drive at 65 m.p.h on sharp banked curves in a convertible type vehicle.

If you do, well you need to start charging for rides in your car in Orlando. You'll make a hell of a lot of money.

Thrill

Ride

That would depend if the ride 'thrilled' you or not. It's a matter of opinions. Kind of like whether or not Mission:Space is a good ride or not. Maelstrom 'thrilled' me as a child.

Putting labels on things is a waste of time.

Not unlike trying to compare wait times for one current and one defunct ride.....

Better? Probably not. But I can honestly say I enjoy the Haunted Mansion and the American Adventure now more than I did when I was 8 years old. And there are several others (Pirates, the Disneyland Tiki Room) that I enjoy just as much now as I did then.

EDIT: Meh, you're just trolling anyway. I should have realized when you reacted in such a positive fashion to my pointing out that jakeman was trolling again. Have fun.

How am I trolling?

Look at the history of this thread. Look at who was giving detailed information about Horizons. I never even mentioned Mission:Space until recently. After all, the thread is about Horizons. :animwink:

Then all the suddon someone chimed in with this:

You were seven (six?) when the pavilion closed. How could you possibly make an informed opinion about whether or not Mission Space improved upon Horizons?

Rather harsh don't you think? Sounds to me you believe you're on a higher level with those Mission:Space fans. How dare those Mission:Space fans believe it is better than Horizons.

I don't like Mission Space. I rode it once

Maybe you should try riding it again. I know when I was a baby I didn't like asparagus. However some time down the road I tried it again and I started liking it.

Maybe it would increase your quality of life. :animwink:

You find this exciting? I'll turn your premise on you ... if your car's not exceeding 65 mph regularly, you're doing it wrong imho.

If comparing wait times on a defunct vs. current ride is a waste of time than certainly comparing their popularity and overall better/worse is a waste of time, too.

So, why don't we talk more about Horizons instead of crying about Mission:Space taking its place.

Well I mean it's all opinion and it's kinda fact that Mission: Space is better recieved than Horizons. I heard it was walkon on it's last day. If Mission: Space was to close tomrrow, I doubt it would be a walk on.

And Krack weren't you the one who said you enjoy things better over time? Well try riding it again and you might enjoy it.

That's not exciting to you? What do you find exciting?

And your not doing it wrong when the speed limit around your area is only 55.

Higher level than MS fans? No. But I openly admit I feel far more qualified to offer an opinion on Horizons than people who never rode the attraction (or was not old enough to remember it when they did). I never saw America Sings, but you don't see me suggesting that it sucked because I watched part of it on Youtube once.

And, yes, trolling is exactly what you're doing. You've made personal attacks at several instances. You are actively trying to cause an angered response; that's trolling. Like I said, enjoy yourself; I wish I had realized it earlier - I wouldn't have wasted my time engaging you in a conversation.

Yes, why don't you......

Well, let's talk about "if Horizons were here today"

First, it opened in 1983. It was supposed to take place roughly 100 years in the future.

Now, since it was opened in 1983, we'll just do some simple math and we'll say that it's technically, now, only 70 years into the future.

How ironic would it be to have a future that:

1. Featured a Space Shuttle. They will be retired in 2011
2. Calls a silicon chip "new"

Then we'd stroll through "a house of the future" "a farm" and some other stuff. Oddly, anything resembling a cell phone or a successor to the cell phone is not seen used. Also, nothing that resembles a personal computer is being used.

Horizons was designed and built in a completely different era of time than where we currently are. I love Horizons, but it needs to stay in the 1980s (and early 1990s) with happy thoughts. Just like bleached jeans, perms, neon legwarmers, etc. Fun to think about.... but don't really have a place in the current days of time.

I think that real fans of Horizons would understand the fact that it was becoming embarrassing the last 5 years of its life.

:ROFLOL:

The only reason you call me a troll because you don't agree with my opinion. That's rather self righteous.

If trolling is actively trying to cause an angered response, why do you keep bashing Mission:Space, Epcot, and Future World in general in a Horizons thread? :zipit:

That's trolling ladies and gentlemen.

If Disney World makes you so angry, why do you keep going? Why are you on this forum?

Horizons threads always crack me up. The haters come in and talk of their detest of Mission:Space. It's like Glenn Beck talking about Obama. He dislikes the guy so much.... yet he can't stop talking about him. :ROFLOL:

so umm... was my accurate information about why the show building needed to come down bunked or de-bunked... I'm confused...

As someone who has ridden BOTH rides, and waited for both attractions as little as 5 minutes and as much as 2 hours, wait time has nothing to do with the popularity of any attraction- it is influenced by a myriad of external factors including weather, time of day, season, park attendance, which half of FW opens early and late, etc...

Horizons was a stylized and futuristic view of the world in 2076 (as seen in 1976). It's 15 minute journey through air conditioned space was perfect on a hot summer day. I'll admit that while I loved parts of the attraction, there were also parts that I laughed at, and parts that made me sleepy. I feel that the concept of the future was more enjoyable than being accurate about the future, and the "holograms" were kinda cool (even if they were just pepper's ghosts). And in true 1980's form, you got to Choose Your Own Adventure to get back! How's that for cool?
