Hollywood Studios Refurbs

pins go back to the medieval days. Trading pins are a different matter.
I don't remember when pin trading began in earnest, maybe around 2000, but I've given my kids a bunch of old pins that I bought in the 1980s (I think) that my children used to wear when we visited WDW. They were frequently stopped by serious pin collectors who wanted to trade or buy them. I wouldn't let the kids do it for sentimental reasons so they've stopped wearing those and now only wear pins they can trade!

Personally, I think Universal should offer a discount on tickets to DVC members to see if they can swoon any unsatisfied Disney fans.

That's actually a very good idea. Something all the local theme parks should consider. That and deep room discounts at the various hotels on site at Universal. Something they'd likely only seriously consider during slow periods, but that's when many DVCers like to go.

I can see them holding off on a pan refurb until new fantasy land is open. I bet you all would be complaining even more than u already do now if It was down for a long rehab along with the new fantasy land...
Could they finally replace the perpetual falling aluminum foil inside Pan's volcano?

Disney didn't start marketing the Pin Trading until around the year 2000, however pin trading has been at Disney for years. My parents have pin sets from the 80s, so no it didn't start at universal

Until your parents acknowledge that they actually traded pins with cast members in the eighties I'll stick with GLaDOS on this point.

They have to finish the restrooms and new walkways before they will be doing anything with PPF. Obviously at that time the FLE will be open and they can logistically close the attraction to reconfigure the queue and hopefully give the ride a refurb att.

Everything proceeds systematically and logically. And it all started with the HM refurb/reimagining.

So they need to wait for new restrooms before replacing tin foil now?

Depends on the level of any refurb they are planning. It is quite common for them to stop maintaining a ride except as absolutely necessary before any major overhaul. Look how bad the mansion got just before it closed for its universally popular refurb.

But I am not telling you anything you don't already know.

PS- I'd be more worried they do not have longer range plans if they WERE actively fixing small details such as the foil, paint etc.

Dedicate, resort-promoted pin trading started at Universal when IoA opened in 1999. Did Disney sell pins before that? Sure. But they were never a focus of the merchandising department until after Universal's pin trading became a success.

So, once again:

so i agree that something needs to be done with the BLT haha (BLT) but with that being said why is everyone screaming for a cars land? it needs to be unique to cali to be such a draw...and besides its primary attraction proper (radiator springs) is slot cars like TT except slower....so your telling me Disney will put the same ride in a slightly diff theme in Florida? <i think this last part is often ignored...

Why does it "need" to be unique? Would you not ride ToT because it was copied in DCA?

People have brought this up, but it's a pretty nonsensical complaint to me. TT and RSR are completely different rides despite having the same ride system. That's like complaining that PotC and IASW are the "same ride in a slightly different theme". That ride system is a means to an end, not the experience itself.

They had already done it at one point. Body Wars in Epcot and Star Tours in DHS are the exact same ride system. We are even talking about the same two parks.

What was the refurb to the HM, and when? I'm trying to remember what it used to look like, because I dont think I've always liked it as much as i do now.

Does anyone know if the refurb of HISTK is still happening? Is its still open? That refurb has been removed the Disney World calendar, but I know their "offical" site is less than reliable.
