Hi Everyone ! I never ever thought it would be possible for us to visit Walt Disney World... however... I was blessed by winning a trip for 8 !

I need to let the Disney rep know which Deluxe Hotels are my top 3 choices... Anyone have any suggestions... if price was not a factor? Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club, Contemporary, etc... ????

Also since this might be are only trip to WDW we would like to make it very remarkable for all of us... Anything you can think of 'extra' that we should maybe do ? *hoop-dee-doo revue, etc..?*

Thanks Bunches !!!

Deluxe Hotels

How wonderful!

May I suggest Polynesian...quite beautiful...

the Grand Floridian....a great resort...

and the Contemporary....another great one....

The reason I suggest those is because they are on the monorail....no other hotels are on it and the monorail is a great plus.

I have stayed at hotels that only have bus transportation, and while they are great also (never had trouble with buses), the benefit of hopping the monorail and being at the Magic Kingdom in a few minutes is toooooo good.

Just my opinion....I'm sure others have their take.

Congratulations! I believe I speak for all of us when I say...

GIVE ME YOUR TRIP! NOW!!!

Juuuust kidding...

As far as picking the best resort, do you know what kind of rooms you'd get in each resort? I mean, in terms of the view? If you're getting one of the best possible views in any of the resorts here's what I'd suggest...

1: If you don't think you'll ever get back to WDW, get rooms on one of the monorail hotels (Contemporary, Grand Floridian or Polynesian) that overlooks the castle. THAT'S what you'll want to remember for the rest of your life, I'll bet.
2: And it's a close second, but a room at the Animal Kingdom that overlooks their savannah. And I'd bump that up to first choice if everyone in the party is older, or if there are kids in the party who are really REALLY into animals!
3: Any of the Epcot-are hotels are beautiful, but I'd personally appreciate the others more for the views.

If price isn't a factor for you, Hoop-De-Do might be great but Cirque du Soileil should practically be mandatory! It's a great...GREAT show! Also the luau-dinner show at Polynesian would be great.

a breakfast at Chef Mickey's
a dinner at Cinderella's (that's right, I said dinner, forget those fools trying to score a character breakfast at the Castle, you don't want to be running around the Magic Kingdom on a belly filled with all you can eat eggs and waffles!)
Rent one of the boats that take you out to Seven Seas Lagoon for the fireworks. It's $120 per boat, and I think up to 10 or 12 people can get one, so it'd only be like 15 bucks a head for the 8 of you. You can pay extra and even eat on the boat, if you want.
Go for a carriage ride before Hoop De Doo at Fort Wilderness.

Fun free thing to do-Fort Wilderness has a campfire singalong, followed by movies on an outdoor screen. Great for little ones.

Have a great time!

When chosing your hotel, it's important to remember what you like. Do you like animals or waking up to a beautiful castle? Would you prefer to wake up to Spaceship Earth? Personally, I'd stay at the Grand Flo but that's because I've always wanted to stay there...and the Contemporary...but think of it that way. Hope that helped! Have a great trip!

If price is not a factor, you want to make it memorable, and you just have to have the Castle in the background, by all means go with the Grand Floridian. It's considered the best of the best when it comes to Disney resorts because it's on the monorail line, you get great views of the Castle, and there's alot of things to do there. If it were me, I'd stay there because I know I'll never be able to get there otherwise. But again like everyone else has said, it all depends on personal preference. Congrats and have a great trip!! Make sure to let us all know about it .

WOW congrats.

i would tend to agree with most everyone here and say the frand floridian. Mainly because it is top notch, its probably one of the best hotels in florida if not the country. I would but AKL second though just because the themeing there is amazing. Have fun. By the way how can i become one of the 8 people?

I would definitely have to say the Grand Floridian, I loved it when we stayed there. The Contemporary was nice, but would definitely prefer the AKL savannah view over it. Depending on the ages of the kids, tends to dictate how much time you are going to spend in MK, the younger they are the more likely you will go back to MK several times and a monorail hotel would be ideal.

Le Cellier in Epcot's Canadian pavillion is an excellent steakhouse. I love their pretzel bread.
Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary
California Grill at the top of the Contemporary, time it right and you can see the fireworks at MK.
Cinderella's royal table, you have to have at least one meal there. Dinner is excellent and so is lunch. Breakfast is great since all the princesses are there and if you have little girls, it really is a must do. Each character breakfast around WDW has different characters at it, so depending on who you like dictates the place.

For restaurants and menus, as well as photos of the hotels and their rooms, check out www.allearsnet.com.

And contragulations!!!!

1.)Grand Floridian-on the monorail, possibly great views of the castle, neat zero entry pool with a slide, easy access to water mice(lots of fun)...nightly water parade thingy

2.)Yacht Club-close to Epcot, close to broad array of dining choices (boardwalk, World Showcase) awesome pool Stormalong bay, possible view of Reflections of Earth.

3.)Polynesian-monorail, view, good restaurants, Ohana, Polynesian Luau, nightly water parade thingy

I would love to stay at the AKL..but I would hesitate to put it on my top three list along with the Wilderness Lodge because they tend to be a little less expensive than the above mentioned three.....I'd hate to see you railroaded into a 'cheaper' resort when there is the opportunity to do it 'first class' at the Grand Floridian. There is nothing wrong with any of the deluxe resorts...but the bus system can be a little hard to wait for every single day....there is nothing better than jumping on the monorail at your resort.

Well I would go out and buy a few great guide books, let everyone in the group look them over and then make a decision. Personally my kids have always wanted to stay at the Contemporary, I'd love to stay at Grand Floridian and my husband only cares that he has a bed and a shower!
Now, depending on the ages of your group, I'd do some fun meals, character dinner at Liberty Tree is a favorite of ours, as is the breakfast at Cinderellas (if you have little girls this is almost a MUST DO).
Our group of 12 (aged 3-65) got matching t-shirts for a group photo with Mickey in Toon Town.
If you are going during a busy season, make sure you grab a good spot for any parades or fireworks that you want to see as prime viewing areas can go about an hour prior to showtime.
take lots of photos, relax and have fun!!

Wow...that's great news! If you don't mind me asking, how did you win such a trip?

Out of the Deluxes, I'd say the Polynesian or Yaht and Beach Club. I've stayed at the poly, and the laid-back tropical atmosphere is great. I loved the whole resort, and having the monorail at your disposal is great. Plus you get the Electrical Water Pagent right at your door.

Now for the Yacht and Beach Club, it has the most amazing pool....it's more like a water park! Plus you have boat service to Epcot and MGM, and you can walk to Epcot, MGM or the Boardwalk.

Have a magical trip!

If I won a trip and had the opportunity to bend the ear of the Disney Rep, I would request reserved viewing locations for all the parades and fireworks!

I was wondering the exact same thing...

OK I'll ask...How did you when a trip for 8?

Where do I need to sign up to win this same trip?

I would definitely stay @ the GF. It is beautiful. By the way, when is your trip? Not that it would matter, I would still want to stay at the GF, then Poly, then Contemporary. Main reason: monorail, plus those resorts are incredible. I recently stayed at the AK (I had to pay though), and thought it was fantastic, but still had issue with transportation.

Congratulations on this trip. Have a good time and welcome to the boards. Oh yeah, order your planning video or request one and purchase the unofficial guide to WDW. Let me know if you have a hard time finding 8 people.

You all are just AMAZING !!! Thank you soo much for all of your suggestions !!!

It is a Magical Gathering Trip for 8 through Mc'Donalds. It was the sweepstakes they had going when the introduced the Chicken Selects. Just like the Monopoly contests they have with the pull-off game pieces. The game pieces had 8 digit codes to enter online.

We have the dates of when we would like to go... the problem I have still is the hotel accomodations :veryconfu All of the resorts just look sooo amazing !!! We are traveling with some young ones... so the Monorail hotels seem very convient however the Animal Kingdom Lodge seems spectacular too but I am just concerned on the extra time it takes to use their shuttle service to the theme parks. Im off to go look into some of the resorts that you all suggested... had not thought of the Polly...so Im gonna take a lookie-loo at that one too now! Too many choices !!! :sohappy:
