I think the mermaid additions are pretty cool, the skeleton especially. I always wondered what killed the pirates on the beach & refused to believe it was the crabs. Haha..
I'm not sure but I think that the skull rock is just above where you first see the mermaid projection in the video. Since the camera was focused on the mermaid, the skull rock wasn't visible (I think).First off, the skeleton looks awesome. Second off, I thought there was supposed to add skull rock to that area, did I miss that?
Would they be singing, "Yo ho, yo ho! It hurts me when I pee!".More like syphilis.
The Mermaids were done right I feel. What they did in 06 with the "Where is Captain Jack Sparrow"? nonsesnse is an example of how to do it the wrong way.Im okay with changing classics, but it has to be done right.
Nice! I was thinking scurvy but syphilis works too.More like syphilis.
It's hard to tell, did any of the dialogue in the caves change beyond the Mermaid song? The Mermaids were done right I feel. What they did in 06 with the "Where is Captain Jack Sparrow"? nonsesnse is an example of how to do it the wrong way.

Couldn't agree more, it made the area so subtly moody and wonderful.I don't mind the mermaid projections, but why did they change the music?? Ugh, the music for that section was PERFECT.
No.It's hard to tell, did any of the dialogue in the caves change beyond the Mermaid song?
I hope not. The Disneyland Version has a time travel element not present in the WDW Version. They would not make sense in the context of the Disneyland attraction. That said Blackbeard as he is presented in the WDW version (as a ghost) does not make much sense if the ride canonically takes place before the film series. Then again I am trying to use logic to describe an attraction whose premise currently revolves around a town hiding a pirate that wants to steal THEIR treasure from other pirates and seriously risking their own livelihood to protect him. Oh for the days when it was simply a ride about Pirates looking for treasure rather than being a literally forced tie-in to a film that was designed to be a tie-in to the ride to begin with.I haven't read the entire thread so I apologize if this was already covered but have the mermaids been added to Disneylands incarnation as well and if not are they coming in the near future?
Actually the new presentation is much more similar to the original (pre-2006) feeling of that scene. with the Pan Flute music you got a calming mellow-type feeling. The original and to a lesser extent the new Mermaid version you get more of a creepy-scary-feeling.I don't mind the mermaid projections, but why did they change the music?? Ugh, the music for that section was PERFECT.
The Mellow Yo Ho (which works better in it's DL context than it did in WDW still plays at DL in Dead Mans Cove and Hurricane Lagoon and I am hoping it stays that way as well as still being heard in the Hurricane Lagoon scene in WDW.The previous music is still played on Disneyland's pirates, right? The theme song without lyrics? I never liked that in the caves as I didn't find it creepy. I found the "mellow" music from the 2006 refurb to be creepy, ominous, and giving a sense of wonder.
