Here come the mermaids

well when a bit part of the tale is 'dead men tell no tales' - which is about killing off the people who helped hide your treasure.. and we get beaches of pirates who have clearly been killed by other pirate cutlesses.. it eludes to the tales of pirates burying their treasure on obscure islands.

Lol, not the same to me, sorry. We have a small cave scene (that disneyland also has, mind you) with a dead pirate leaning against the wall. That has nothing to do with the 3 massive scenes containing the dead pirates/treasure rooms that DL has. If it is meant to allude to what we should have gotten, I have somehow missed the hint over all these years. Te me what that scene that we got might represent is how cutthroat pirates can be. Not that around the corner there could be rooms filled with treasure that were cut for budget and time reasons.

wouldnt it be nice if the attraction went back to the way it was?...... Without Johnny Depp?
Oh God, yes, please.

I wish they'd build a proper Jack Sparrow attraction in DHS, so that the distracting movie overlay in the MK's Pirates can be removed at last.

One does not want Jack Skeleton to be a permanent overlay in the Mansion either!

Touring plans lists a one-day refurb at Pirates on 10/9 (although the Disney Blog made clear that the change is expected to happen overnight). Not sure if the mermaids are what is planned for that date, but I'm keeping my eyes out for someone to post an update around that time.

Here's a video I thought people might enjoy!!
I really have no comment on the mermaids, because:
a) I never got to see the attraction before they added Jack Sparrow, and
b) They haven't even happened yet...
Watching this video however made me realize that it looks SO much better than the current version in Disneyworld. Just my opinion.

Does anybody else find the irony in the two different kinds of Mermaids being added?
We have the rumored mean and nasty mermaids from the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides movie, then over in Fantasyland, we have Ariel. I wonder if this is intentional, or just a random occurrence where they saw an opportunity.

I wonder if ther mermaids going in to POTC are just mermaids that didn't work out for The Little Mermaid ride in Fantasyland.

I can't at the delusion in this thread. Just because we all like WDW better, that doesn't mean we can't admit that DL has something better than we do. Their Pirates is better hands down than ours. It's twice as long and the story feels so much more complete. Just take a look if you never actually ridden it:

I've ridden it, don't need a video.

And I stand by my statements. :)

The Mermaid Skellitons are cut, so is the lighthouse, but the Skull on the left is already complete, just waiting on a lighting package

If this is a new incarnation of the long, lost talking skull, then I'm elated! :) I never understood why they removed him in the first place.

Nah. It's a large rock formation on the left as you approach the beach scene.
Properly lit, it looks like a skull.
