How hard can this be? Its a sound track ... right?
Overnight technically but I think there are factions within WDI that want the cannons off considering the other thematic violations added in the past 6 years. (Blasting POTC Film Music throughout Caribbean Plaza, "Dead men tell no tales" banner on fortress tower, losing Barker Bird ,marquess and steel drum bands, drowning out queue audio with Pirates Overture, removing talking skull, etc removing all the implication that the pirates are attacking now.

If that is their excuse ... its weak at best, its not like they were that loud, but they did add some cool ambience. Those factions need to suck it. IMHO.

What you most likely have is that WDI operates in Glendale California which is in Disneyland's backyard. Most Imagineers at least the higher-ups are likely California kids who grew up with Disneyland. POTC in Disneyland involves a lot of time and location travel 19th century New Orleans-Bayou-grotto when you go through Davy Jones/Blackbeard you are transported back to the 17th Century Caribbean you go up a waterfall to return to 19th Century New Orleans at the end. In WDW the idea is you are in the Caribbean already and the fort which houses the Attraction is the same fort you see being attacked in the ride. In fact in the queue you hear voices of the soldiers warning about Pirates the boats are supposed to be an escape route from the fortress and the boats take you into the grotto which in this instance is happening concurrently with the pirate attack rather than being in a different time-frame as in DL you splash down into the battle scene and it's nearly identical to Disneyland from the battle scene on except no Arsenal scene. The problem is when the 06 movie re-boot occurred the same Disneyland-familiar Creative Development teams were in charge of the WDW refurb as were the Disneyland Refurb thus they thought the WDW version was simply a shorter version of the DL Version with no story variations, and did not do their research thus we have the cannons turned off, The Queue music from DL dropped into the existing WDW Queue drowning out the voices of the soldiers and numerous other things. You can read more about this phenomenon here.

I remember it well ... next to space mountain, pirates was my favorite ride as a kid. Correct me if I am wrong ... but I dont think you can hear those warnings in the que any more ... the track has been replaced, I think? I can't remember the last time I heard anything besides the diggers as you come down the ramp on the right side load area.

Edit: I just read your post again, so they replaced it with the DL track ... thats unfortunate.

They are supposedly still there, just being drowned out.

The Epcot Manifesto
So, tomorrow is the one-day ride closure, so we should be able to have news coming in the next couple of days on the final changes, correct?

Question, so far I don't think that the queue has shown any interactive elements yet from what I can tell. Is this the case, or is it just like BTMRR where they have not yet turned the interactive elements on?

Well technically, they are here, you just cant see them :D

CREEPY.

So it reopens tomorrow and someones going to get down there and tell us what's going on pretty please?

I'd be the one to go but, y'know, I'm 4000 + miles away and it would be quite an expensive day trip.
