I'm trying to decide between Caribbean Beach Resort and Animal Kingdom Lodge. I'm aware of the cost difference and the fact that CBR is moderate whereas AKL is deluxe. But what I'm looking for in a resort is something scenic, relaxing, and tropical, and something that would be a definite experience in itself aside from the parks. So which one between the two fits the bill better? I haven't stayed at either one. I stayed once at Polynesian, which definitely fits the bill, but that's not in my budget for this upcoming trip (and I've also stayed at the All-Star resorts). Thanks for the help!

While AKL is less tropical than CB, I think the experience of the resort is much better. I also love the tropical feel, and the Poly and CB are two of my favorites, but we once stayed a night at the AKL, and I could have stayed much longer! The rooms are larger, with queen vs. double beds, so that alone is worth a lot! Plus, all around the resort you'll find African artifacts and photos that are fascinating to see. The restaurants are excellent, and the pool is amazing (that's where you'll find a tropical feel!). I would stay at the AKL, hands down!

I have to completely agree with AKL. It's one of the best resorts on property, IMO. The places to eat are great, the theming is done perfectly, and the experience itself is unlike one you wouldn't get elsewhere. If you have a chance to stay there, I wouldn't pass it up. Have a great time!

It's not a fair comparsion in theming. AKL is a Deluxe vs CB being a Moderate. If pricing is not an issue, AKL all the way

The family and I have stayed at AKL and found it to be spectacular. Grand lobby, savana view, theme is not to be outdone. A very memorable place to stay, I've never been to CB, and I'm not knocking it either. The resturants are very good too, family oriented, at least BOMA is, was at JIKO'S good food there too, but more expensive. AKL totally.

I have stayed at both and while AKL was very, very nice, we will never stay there again. The bus stop to our room was entirely too far. I will never risk that very long walk again. When it is the end of the evening and you have been walking all day long, that ridiculous walk to your room was the last thing we needed.
CB is very spread out but the bus stops at various stops throughout the resort making the walk at the end of your day very reasonable.
If $$$ is not the problem, may I suggest the WL? This is by far my most fave and the one we always stay at

Although we've never stayed at the CBR, we have visited it twice and it does nothing for us (the food court is awful). It comes on the bottom of moderates for us. We would love to stay at the AKL one day down the road. Go with the AKL!

If the difference in cost did not matter, I would choose any deluxe resort over any moderate resort!

Deluxe vs Moderate says it all. Though my personal favorite is POR, I love the AKL. Since AKL is a 'hotel', all rooms are accessible only from inside the resort. We had savanna rooms twice and the hallway & outside noises were minimal. In fact, at night we were able to hear the animals grazing outside (and the moon afforded us occasional glimpses). :dazzle:
The bus stop was just a few yards down from the gift shop on the left. The buses ran in a timely manner both times we stayed. There always seems to be plenty of room/seats on the buses. I might add that at EPCOT closing after Ill/ROE, never did we experience "waiting for the next resort" bus when we stayed at AKL. This is not the case with the Values/Moderates.
If your funds are OK, I would say "go ahead". At least you will know for yourself if AKL is worth the extra $$$s. I think you'll find it is.:wave:

I forgot to add if you have children: there are some restrictions at AKL that you do not find at other resorts, straws, cup lids, etc. Also, there is "absolutely no feeding of animals". Infractions can get you tossed from this resort!:lookaroun

AKL! It is an absolutely beautiful resort with a very relaxed atmosphere. If money isn't an issue, go for it! :wave:

Carribbean Beach Resort is very nice and has a great view of Epcot and u can watch the fireworks fro m the resort and its really cool. Although I think AKL is very nice and has a great atmosphere as well.
