I need to decide between all star music and movies. DH and I are going to be at WDW for 5 days the same as my family (sister and her family & our parents) and they are staying at the music. DH and I like the design of movies better. BUt we are trying to decide whether we want to be close, in the same resort as them or go with the design we like better? Is there anything (bus service or anything) that makes one better than the other? What would you do?

if the All Stars resorts are sharing buses Movies is last to be picked up and dropped off. I have stayed at both and I like them both, the Movies I love the theme and Music I love how close you are if you have a preferred room. IMHO where I stay would be based on how much togetherness you are going to have with your family on your trip, if you want to be at the parks at the same time I would say stay at the same resort it will be alot easier to get on the bus together then try to meet at the park. If you are just planning on meeting for meals stay at the resort you will be happiest with!! No matter what have a great trip!!

Music is usually the quitest as far as young kids running around as it is the least appealing to young ones. The theme of Movies is better IMO. Go with the time you intend to spend with the rest of the group. You can request to be near or even have conjoining rooms with the other group if you choose Music and plan to spend alot of time together.

The family and I have stayed at all three, and found that outside themes they are basically the same in all aspects except for one. Buses, Sports picks up and drops off first everytime, except if a bus comes thru with just a certain AS listed on it, but it is also the oldest of the three. Me personally have found that even though it is the oldest it is still kept clean and in good shape, and I have no preference between the three.

Just as a side note, Movies and Music are RIGHT next to each other. They have a parking lot in-between them that both resorts use. It's quite easy to walk from one to the other. In fact, for many rooms in the Mighty Ducks section of Movies, the food court and bus stops at Music's Melody Hall are actually closer than those at Movies' Cinema Hall...

And as "sister resorts", you can use the pools at either resort.

After staying at all three, I would place them in this order:

1) Sports
2) Music
3) Movies

Movies is last b/c it is last in line for the bus, and they have not remodeled the rooms yet. Plus, it tends to attract more families with younger kids. Music is a lot quieter than the other 2, but I like Sports layout and bus pickup the best.

I have only stayed at the Music and Movies. For theming I prefer the Movies but I really enjoy the Music b/c it is so much quiter. When we were at Movies there was a tour group of hundreds of teenagers from another country and they were loud and everywhere all hours of the night. At Music it just was quiet, peaceful and more laid back.

Yes. When I was there just a few weeks ago...I was furious to find I was in the Mighty Ducks building...which the furthest away from Cinema Hall. My anger subsided when I discovered that it was a two minute walk to ASMu buses. And I was on the corner closest to ASMu...so it worked out nicely. I probably was closer than I would have been had I been in a preferred room at the All Stars Music.

Movies is the newest. It also has the worst bus service. As pointed out above, anytime the All-Stars are sharing a bus, Movies is last to be picked up (few/no seats avaiable) and last to be dropped off (standing longer if you didn't get a seat leaving the park).

Therefore, I'd go with Music unless you are really bus-service sensitive, then I'd go with Sports!

Ive done all three

1 music was very nice and seems like it was recently renovated
2 Movies was fine
3 Sports seemed very dirty to me

Just out of curiosity, when did you last stay at Sports?

Sports recently got a rehab like Music. When I stayed in December, the rooms were nicer than Pop to me.

Thanks for all the advice. We decided to go to movies. Just think we'll like the theming better and since it is close to music we can still get together with the family!
