Have you noticed the lack on maintenance ?

Just because you haven’t noticed something doesn’t mean it isn’t happening or doesn’t exist.

Honestly, be happy you haven’t and it just isn’t something that stands out to you. I wish I didn’t notice.

It isn’t that these things haven’t always happened/existed, it is more that it has taken longer and longer to see them fixed/patched up if at all. At the end of the day, sure, it doesn’t ruin my vacation or anything but it does take something away from it.
Yet, the discussion seem to be casting a broad brush stroke of have you noticed the lack of maintenance.
When I mentioned that I had not, though I have been to the parks and resorts over a number of year, it
was insinuated that I was blind. If a discussion is to be had, can't there be different views taken?

The discussion was attempting to point out you may have not noticed what many others have. To be told bluntly your opinion was right and all the others were wrong is sure to send the wrong message.

It’s not about “view”. It’s pointing out facts that things are broken. If you’ve not personally seen them is likely to mean you’ve missed them as opposed to it not being true.

Its a discussion that is a regular one on these forums. Perhaps you could do some research to educate yourself in the fact it’s been ongoing for a long time before you call people out.

Okay in order. If you feel the mattress you are sleeping on is of poor quality, say something and see what happens.
Same with any appliance in your room that is not working. If you are saying you had these problems and nothing
was done, then you have an argument.
In the years I have been to WDW I have not experienced rides consistently breaking down. I have had a ride break
down and was even evacuated from Splash Mountain, but I have not experienced rides consistently breaking down.
Animatronics do tend to wear out and are usually replaced or repaired pretty quickly. (Yes the Yeti is an exception.)
The People Mover is related to the reduced park staff, due to Covid. This is not a usual.
Obviously you experience the pool slide closure. (It may have been inconvenient for you, but it may have been needed.)
How long were they not replaced? On the day you were there? Did you mention it to anyone?
I have never seen an overflowing litter bin at WDW.
Poor cleanliness of restrooms. (Obviously tourists are slobs) Overall I do not find the restrooms unclean, especially considering
the number of people that use them daily. Also if there is a problem mention it, I have, and it is taken care of.
Finally, a good example. That did happen once, a year or two ago. That monorail was immediately taken off the line and repaired.
Have none of you ever had something in your car break? Was it your fault or do things sometimes just break?

That was an excellent effort and much more direct than just trying to say I must not be seeing what you see.
People mover is not related to Covid, it is an issue with the fact that cars are crashing into each other
They have just announced the poll slide at Stormalong Bay is to close this month. Boardwalk got a little more notice but not much. And there was no option to use an alternative.
Refrigerator doors have been an issue for years, it’s well known, CMs advise not to close the cabinet door in which they are located in order to keep them cooler.
Mattresses are something I see time and time again in trip reports.
Lightbulbs go out along corridors, in rooms, in parks.
Litter bins right now ar a problem. They are propped open to avoid the need for people to open them, but that means litter blowing all over the place.

Trip reports are your friend. And threads. Read them.

Oh and I haven’t been recently. Not allowed in to the US. I sincerely hope some of these issues will be fixed when I do return. But yes I mention things if I come across them.

Those are some very thick glasses.

You may have seen the neon strip on Innoventions east that was broken for 3 years then. It became a running joke between me (a foreigner) and friends who visit WDW every week and notice a lot more at fault that I do.

Or the jumping water effect before the final hill in Splash, which would work for a while after it’s annual rehab and then stop again. Or the hopping Brer Rabbit which would do the same. The Fountain of Nations before it was ripped out. Mattresses that were visibly warped in rooms. Trash bins overflowing. Restrooms that were a mess. The current Gran Fiesta finale. The opening projection on Spaceship Earth. Things shouldn’t have to break to have maintenance done on them. I shouldn’t have to report that the mattress in my room looks like a V.

I keep seeing all these posts about « trash all over the place ». I go to the parks at least once a week since they’ve reopened and I have yet to encounter this. I do see many places that need paint/light replaced etc, but all these reports about messy pathways and bathrooms, I have yet to see that. In fact, I see more custodial out and about then I have in years.

Of course a discussion can be had, and I don’t doubt you when you say you haven’t noticed as I think there are a lot of people that haven’t.

Sometimes I wonder if it is just one of those things that once you've seen it you can’t unsee it.

Also, I voiced my concern to GR a few weeks ago about Canada needing some repairs to the lights on these stairs, and yesterday this happened:

this isn’t the first time something I spoke to GR about was taken care of. I always recommend letting GR know about your concerns.

Yes but he’s not just saying he hasn’t noticed, he’s saying he’s right and everyone else is wrong. That isn’t having a discussion.

My last trip was right before the shutdown. It was happening then. Not everywhere but enough places to be noticeable, like the restrooms at the exit of Splash. Since the reopening there are far fewer guests so I would imagine there is simply less waste. Some of the garbage problem lies on the guests, though. Many simply don’t care what they do and will throw things anywhere.

They fixed it by gutting the building. There was a toilet that didn’t flush in Innoventions West. They tore the building down to solve that problem.

The part I bolded above.... BINGO!! People just don't care anymore. People are rude and destructive. Kids will try and peel stuff off walls or kick / punch things as hard as they can and parents are too buried in their phones to notice. When that's happening on a daily basis, of course things are going to get worn faster. Back when I was a kid if I attempted to do half the things I see kids doing in the parks these days, I would've been taken to the car and driven back to the hotel. And it's not just kids. I see adults just leaving trash when they get up from a table, or just leaving cups in the ride queues. People just have a lack of respect for things that are not theirs.

So we just got back from BWV.
The room is not a cheap room. My in-laws are staying there next month and are paying $350 per night in the same room my wife and I just stayed in.
For us DVC owners, we paid a considerable penny to buy into the system.

We had a mattress that was EXTREMELY poor quality. The bed felt like it would fall apart.

Yes, Disney took care of it the next day after I reported it, but that should NEVER come to that.
This bed quite literally was falling apart, there is no way the previous guests did not notice, and absolutely no way the cleaning folks did not notice. I would guarantee the maid had, and either did not report it (never should happen) or the more likely, it was ignored.

The company is cheapening out on maintenance. There are examples all over the place. Even in this room the shower was slow to drain, easily something noticeable by the maid.

These hotels are not Motel 6. This is supposed to be a premium product with a premium price.

I love the concept of Disney probably more than anyone else, but don’t fool yourself and stick your head in the sand about the state of things. The current organization is off track, and investors should be VERY CONCERNED as this quality decrease will have long term impacts into the profitability of the company.

I think they feel if no one says anything about it, they won't fix it. If they can get away with it, why would they spend the money to fix it? For the prices they charge for ANY of their rooms but ESPECIALLY the deluxe resorts and DVC resorts.... EVERYTHING should be top notch!!

Sadly, this has become more common place.
WDW has become far to complacent and has rested on its laurels for far too long.
We used to go every year for the last 4 decades.
Just before covid we decided if WDW would not keep up then we would not return for a number of years.
Numerous emails have been sent about these constant and glaring issues.
Hopefully, someday things might change.

I will leave you all alone. This is not a discussion. It is this is my point
of view, let's see how many people agree with me and any other
views be damned. Thank you for the clarification.

That is reassuring.......
Last time we were there two years ago,
MK was the worst for garbage overflow.
The other parks we never noticed this.

My comment has to do with my view that you are wearing Disney glasses , not to see these issues in every park.
If it came across as harsh, I apologize, it was meant as a metaphor.

There was one time last year I was at MK and the adventureland restrooms needed some attention, I told a custodial CM I saw nearby and he thanked me and went right over. But for the most part I find the cleanliness up to standard. Maintenance can definitely be improved though in some areas.
