Vent - Long!
Got some interesting news yesterday. My younger sister, who works in my office, called to say she had been offered an interview for an "amazing opportunity". Now, keep in mind that when I recommended her for the job in my office she was 27 years old with no college degree and no office experience, as well as a spotty work history (as to why, that is a much longer and complicated story). I mean, I had faith that she would be great but my boss basically had only my word to go on.
So, she has been a GREAT asset to the company. The boss loves her and having her there has enabled me to move into more of an HR position and away from support staff. There is another girl in the office but she's all cranky and set in her ways, so she fulfills only a certain function. Anyways, my long winded point is that when I left on Friday I did so with the confidence that she would keep things running smoothly in my absence. Now she tells me she might have found another job????? She wasn't looking, this opportunity came though a friend. I mean she hasn't actually interviewed yet but she is going to and if she likes what she hears she's quitting.
And she tells me she already had a chat with the boss about it and he's "cool" with it and that there's no need FOR ME TO STRESS because she hasn't even interviewed yet. No prob, I won't stress. I'm having a baby in like, 10 days and now there could be no one to run the office which means hiring somebody and training them and I don't have the time or the energy, which means it's all on my boss which means I get no say in whoever this replacement person might turn out to be, which I am NOT HAPPY with. And I'm sorry but I think it was stupid of her to discuss it with the boss this early in the game.
The bottom line is if it really is a better opportunity for her then of course I want her to go for it. She's my sister and I love her. Her timing could just not be worse. And that makes me resentful and think of her as selfish instead of being able to be happy for her. I'm having one of those moments when I'm like "And after everything I've done for you..." when I know that we do things for the people we love not to obligate them but simply because we love them.
Seriously, I feel like kicking her skinny little ---.:fork:

A few of my friends saw it Friday night, and they said they bawled their eyes out.
