On your last trip to Disney how many times - or not - did a CM say "Have a magical day!" to you? Some visits we get it several times and some not at all, but it ALWAYS makes me feel special when I hear it, no matter how many times I've heard it.

I don't remember exactly how many...but it was very frequent.
When I call the WDW reservation line, they always say it before the phone call ends.
I love it when we leave the Magic Kingdom & the CMs are wearing the Mickey hands & are waving & holding up the signs that read "See" "Ya" "Real" "Soon"!

I actually get annoyed when they don't say it when I'm on the phone with them because when they do it's just makes my day. I have been known to say it to them though if they forget to say it!

I find the line cheesy, and I'd rather have a CM be genuinely nice to me than say some trained phrase.

That said, I don't hear it that often, only over the phone.

Ditto. It is overused to some extent. It is themed for the Magic Kingdom, but shouldn't really be heard at the other parks.

I also found it funny when I heard one CM say they only use it when they are frustrated and can't express their frustration. I guess more of a sarcastic phrase. I doubt that is the case for everyone else though.

Oh I hear ya there..I talked to 3 different people yesterday on the reservations phone line and all were soo nice and all told me to have a "Magical day"! My sister laughs because every now and then I say that to her and she just shakes her head and laughs !! I keep telling her I'm practicing for my future job!

On my last trip in April I think I heard it maybe 2-3 times. Sometimes I would use it when talking with a Castmember and they would smile and laugh.

I haven't been specifically told to "have a magical day," but I have been genuinely told over the weekend to have a great day, nice evening, etc. :)

Sometimes they forget, or are a little slow... so it's a game with us - we try to say it FIRST :).
Uh, no. A Cast Member is not "a little slow" if they don't tell you to have a magical day.

Also I can guarantee you that saying it to them will most likely only annoy them, and judging by your post, you're probably annoying about it.

Why would they be annoyed if someone sincerely tells them to have a magical day?

The way Trotsky worded it, I get the impression it was more of "I'm saying this to you because I feel that you did not do your job right by not saying it to me!"

And nobody likes being told or hinted at that they are doing their job wrong, especially when they're not.

"Have a magical day, BUDDY!" :lookaroun

I'd rather not hear that and I'd rather not hear or read "Welcome HOME" when I enter a DVC resort. Those are totally cheesy slogans in my opinion, but I know some of my fellow travelers are paying to hear that "Welcome Home" bit.

I'm sorry, but that isn't how I took their comment at all.

I love it when I call reservations and I get put on hold and hear the Disney music. I'm dancing around and my family is just looking at me weird. :)
