Haunted Mansion

I'm seeing this one soon. My sister and I are convinced there has to be a big twist.

We're betting on Owen Wilson being evil, a ghost, or both.

She refuses to wait untill October to find out if we're right.

It’s a campy take crossing jaws and sharknado…prehistoric shark (Megalodon)
Well kind of. It is closer to Deep Blue Sea since you have a underwater sea base that is being attacked by the Meg. Jason Statham does his usual action hero stuff to hunt the shark before it can reach Chinese beaches. The movie is Chinese funded so you see a lot of the usual Hong Kong actresses. The new one is basically the same thing again but two sharks. Here Jason Statham has to rescue the sub stuck the bottom of a trench. It is pretty stupid stuff and is pretty on par with other Statham movies.

I'm still planning on going to see it and have had low expectations from the start, so I may enjoy it. I don't put too much stock in critic's reviews and never let them tell me what I can or can't enjoy. That said, I just looked at all the reviews and many seem to have a cadaverous pallor.... Hopefully it's at least enjoyable. I'm not expecting Schindler's List or even Pirates of the Caribbean, just something to watch for a few hours out of the blazing heat.

Just happy to capture this because we don't use the word "synergy" like we used to. We need to bring that back.
A propos of a Haunted Mansion ride and movie: SYNERGY!!

Fair point…

Critics pumped up awful Disney made reboots/remakes as “excellent” and torpedoed a lot of stuff audiences love

Mario being the latest/biggest example

A reminder about D+

Bobs “plan” is to charge 3x what they currently do…with ads..and not lose subscribers

…because nobody can resist his IP

…oh and spend less on content too.

…I mean…it’s straight out of Stanford business school.
And yet, it'll still be cheaper than Netflix at the end of the day, who is also adding ads and getting rid of their lowest cost no-ad tier....

Seems they all went to the same class at Stanford....

Netflix has poured money into original content

Now if they choke that off…they’re really gonna suffer…
…but it’s a question of bleed. If depends on how much they can push price before they lose in droves.

And remember: cutting cable took effort…this is a swipe.

Disney and Netflix have different business models with both having degrees of success. Disney has high standards and expectations for original content, and usually costly. Where as Netflix is known for low budget trashier TV with the occasional mega hit like Stranger Things. Disney+ could really use a big hit that's not Marvel or SW and preferably a low budget reality type show .

How much of that content is actually of quality… Of the streaming services we have(Netflix, Max, Prime, Apple +, Disney +, Hulu) We watch Netflix the least… we are talking about getting rid of the service as we hardly watch it, maybe we will subscribe for a month when Stranger Things return

Netflix and Disney are more alike than you realize.

Unfortunately Disney's live-action TV/Streaming series based on original content is usually of a poor quality.

The blame here is on Disney's TV studios still churning out C-tier children's/tween content as they did for Disney cable channels, and Walt Disney Studios whose original movies usually suck (looking at you, Nutcracker and the Four Realms, and Artemis Fowl).*

This is why eventually merging Hulu in with D+ in the US will be helpful, since Hulu/FX/ABC do much better with original series.

Oh we’re going this weekend…miss or not.

Park nostalgia is a strong enough draw in this case
I really wanted this one to be good.

The reviews have me depressed.

We'll go anyway, too. 😞

... then I'll come back here and whine about it.

or not - I'm ever hopeful I'll be pleasantly surprised and the negative reviewers just aren't people who appreciate what the movie is built on enough to understand what it's supposed to be... but probably, I'll be back to whine.

Reviews are out, its a dud.

Anyone knew this when they were really pushing the "three dollars" 'joke' in previews. If that's the quality of joke you're trying to use to reel people in... it ain't good.
