haunted mansion? please dont do this

i remember hearing a while back ( think it was at www.doombuggies.com ) some rumors of the haunted mansion being converted to a NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS theme - though i haven't heard a peep about it for a while, it's still got me more than a little worried.

anyone else hear this rumor?

this is the one disney rumor that scares the bejeezus out of me... the mansion has always been my FAVORITE disney attraction - and the though of losing the 999 happy haunts to jack and sally is more than enough to keep me up and night.

hopefully this was and is just a rumor - and hopefully the hitch-hiking ghosts will still be looking for a ride when i go back this september

I haven't heard any word about this but I am with you - I hope they don't mess around with this classic! It's perfect "as is". Those ghosts have been around too long to make them go away forever!!

i've been looking high and low trying to find the messageboard where people were discussing this... i was the only one opposed to the change!?! glad to finally hear that i'm not alone though ... i hate to say it, but changing the mansion would definately have me rethinking my yearly visit to WDW.

Actually, I believe that this was supposed to be a Halloween-time promotional for the Haunted Mansion at DisneyLand, not WDW. I understand that it would not be a permanent change, but only an October-January timeframe.

feels so good to hear i'm not alone on this - and that it doesn't seem like the rumor was true...

but speaking of jiyi, what's the story with that? last september when i was at EPCOT i spoke with some cast members who said the amount of complaints for the new attaction was simply staggering! yet i haven't heard if any action is going to be taken to fix it...

just wondering if anyone knew what the current status is... will figment be coming back ever?

Yeah, I'm more than positive that Journey Into Imagination will undergo another chance soon. Rumors I've been hearing say that it's gonna be a ride based of Monsters Inc with Figment playing the main role. It couldn't be worse

hey Tramp, i can't tell you how much that puzzled me as well - everyone seemed in favor of the change!?! they all talked about how much they loved A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS and how the mansion needs to be updated...

pure crazy talk if you ask me - the haunted mansion IS the haunted mansion - changing it would simply be ruining it...

i'm trying to find this post - the more i think about it, the more i think it might've been at www.intercotwest.com that i first read about it - though when i just looked it seems like the discussion was mearly about the holiday change - and not a complete facelift...

i know i didn't imagine this though - and yes, most people were in favor of a change !?!?!?!

I have always wondered this so dont laugh if its obvious. in the haunted mansion how are the ghosts made? what im trying to say is, what is used to make the illusion of the ghost such as in the famous ballroom, or at the end when you see the ghost with you in your vehicle? Just wonderin

Oh yeah and as for changing the haunted mansion, i think it would be stupid, thats something you just expect when you visit the magic kingdom

I totally agree....

that they should not change the Haunted Mansion. It's a classic. It's a great ride. But, there does need to be a Nightmare Before Christmas Attraction. They almost totally neglect this film at the parks. It's one of my personal favorites and I think they should definitely use it in one of the parks somewhere but not at the expense of the Haunted Mansion.

Regarding the original Journey Into Your Imagination. According to one of the Cast Members that I spoke to in August 2000 who works in the Imagination Pavilion, almost the entire ride is in storage above the showfloor...in like an attic or something.

She said that the reason JIYI was pulled out was because neither Eisner nor Kodak, the pavilion's sponsor, like the ride very much, even though it was a huge hit with Guests. As a result, both Kodak and Eisner put personal feelings aside and kept the ride on premisis in case there was enough demand to bring the ride back while they introduced a new, updated attraction.

I also heard that the current attraction is temporary, as JIYI may be undergoing a off-site (not in the pavilion) rehab. Just how "temporary" is yet to be determined...
