Haunted Mansion - Infamous Hallway Photograph

Sorry but I just had to chuckle at this. It kind of came across as a little bit show-offy to state, "There is very little that I don't know about Walt Disney World", but to follow it with something that is very WIDELY known about, and which LOTS of people have visited, just cracked me up. :ROFLOL:I also got a kick out of how the OP described this "adventure" like he was on some sort of impromptu espionage mission and was being so clever...when in reality, it's a room that is pretty easy to get into and pictures are totally allowed. :hammer:

His post was no more pretentious than yours is.

Well then, I would say you probably don't know what the definition of the word "pretentious" is. If anything, my post was the OPPOSITE of pretentious. I was just pointing out that his "amazing discovery" was something that most Disney fans are aware of and many average guests have seen. It's not like he stumbled onto some big secret room, but he made it sound that way in his post. As I said in my earlier post, it was just funny because he prefaced the whole thing with "There is very little that I don't know about Walt Disney World", which to me seemed kind of an arrogant statement. So to follow that with something that is not an earth shattering thing was just really funny. It would be like someone saying, "There's not much I don't know about American history", and then following that by saying something like, "I just discovered that the North and South were once at war with each other!".

That may be so, but pointing it out just seems a little........snobbish?

I looked up the definition. Your post was pretentious.

I'm amazed that anyone other than a very young kid would have to look up the word "pretentious", but even more amazed that after doing so, you still don't know the correct definition of it. There are three possibilities for this:

1. You didn't really look up the definition, but just SAID you looked it up (because if you really did look it up, you'd see that's not what the word "pretentious" means and that it's been misused here).

2. You did look it up, but didn't understand the explanation given for the meaning of the word "pretentious".

3. The source you looked it up in was not very credible and got the definition wrong.

You can disagree with my post, and even feel it wasn't very nice (in which case I apologize if I offended anyone as that was not my intention), but it's incorrect to call my post "pretentious" or "snobbish". The OP's claim that "there is very little I don't know about Walt Disney World", IS much closer to the definition than mine would be, but I still wouldn't even categorize that as "pretentious". It did seem, however, unjustifiably arrogant (unjustifiably because he proved with the rest of his post that he was unaware of a very basic thing about the subject of which he claimed to know nearly everything).

No worries. I don't think anyone thinks that about you. And I wasn't trying to say that you are a conceited or boastful person. As I stated in my post, I just got a chuckle out of it because the one remark you made about there being very little you don't know about Walt Disney World just came across kind of funny. Unfortunately, a lot of people got bent out of shape about it and seemed to think I had ripped your heart out, chewed it up and spit it out just by expressing a humorous observation. :hammer:

Not only was your original reply to the OP pretentious, this post is also just as pretentious. mmmm delicious irony

You’re right CaptainJack. I feel bad that he spent so much effort with a response. I was just trying to amuse myself and get a chuckle out of other readers.

Merry Christmas :xmas:
Happy New Year :sohappy:

Yeh, you get to see that hallway on the Keys to the Kingdom tour, but isn't it also used for handicap loading?

Yes it is. On our last visit, my wife needed to use a wheelchair to get around in the parks with because her legs can't handle the walking. When we got to Haunted Mansion, we were directed to stand off to the side, and the CM took us into the main loading area for the ride by going through that door and hallway. It wasn't anything special, I just noticed that it cut out the stretching room bit and went right to the "doom buggy" loading stage.

Be amazed, but other readers thought it was funny.

"Other readers thought it was funny" that you had to look up a definition?? :hammer:

It wasn't anything special,

Well according to the OP, who knows almost everything about WDW, it sounds like it's akin to discovering the inner workings of NORAD. You sure you were in the right place? Did you sneak a picture with your secret spy camera, and in the process put the lives of yourself and the others in your party at risk?? Did you elude the evil CM police at every turn?:lol:
