I would still like to know why they can't just place him after the Attic like in DL. Apparently it has to do with the structure of the building. Gee, DOES THAT SOUND FAMILIAR?

"Hatbox Ghost installation causes massive controversy" wasn't something I ever expected to happen. This seemed like the only thing they had on the horizon everyone would be fine with. These people really do manage to screw up literally everything they touch.
They've been doing it for sometime.. Remember the BAH, the Wand, the floating Tacos..Iago being added to the Tiki room....They got a list...

Right! This was supposed to go smoothly and appease all the fans. Pretty hilarious really.

Well yeah, but it's one thing to have a stupid idea and see it through to the end, it's another to have a relatively simple, premade, totally fine idea handed to you and manage to botch the only part where you need to actually contribute.

Other people did all the hardwork when it comes to creating the Hatbox Ghost. All the current people had to do was find a place to put him. And somehow they failed.

Well someone on this thread who is in the know mentioned that the physical dimensions of the balcony is not the issue . So are we to believe the balcony is so weak it can’t hold one AA and if that’s the case shouldn’t that be addressed anyway

Agreed. Makes more sense to move the knight and put Hatbox there. That way you get the initial startle of his appearance but you have enough time to look at his effect before the doombuggy moves on. It renders the Endless Hallway rather pointless but then so would putting him anywhere near it. It definitely makes more sense to have him placed before the hallway vs directly after it.

This is all really stupid. I don't know what WDI is thinking! Heck, even placing him near the "Coffin Occupant" would be a better spot than the hallway. And yes I am in the bargaining stage dammit!
right! he needs to be paired with something. Did the bride do him in? Did he off the guy in the coffin? Is he making the books move in the library? Did he make the stairs go wonky?

randomly standing beside a hallway doesnt make sense.

I'll be fair that I can accept there's some arcane tech issue between lighting and electrical outlets and load-bearing supports or whatever to keep him from the attic, but yeah it's a tough dude to place even if you have your druthers, Mansion is pretty full (jokes about 999 happy haunts aside) so it's hard to find a spot he can work, not be weirdly obtrusive, AND not get swallowed up in the crowd. Like, maybe near the end of the graveyard might work for him to be a feature, otherwise he'd get lost among the others

To give this more of a visual explanation, here's a chunk I cropped out from one of the diagrams of the ride layout found online-

The rectangle shape i've highlighted in green is where the Hatbox Ghost was installed at Disneyland. Presently at WDW, this is where the fake siding and roof is located as your vehicles exit the attic. And yes prior to Hattie's installation, that exact same rectangular section used to be present at DL as well. When Hattie was installed, they cut out part of the rectangular section to expand the balcony space for his scene.

Which should also be the same exact location of this Phantom AA at Phantom Manor at DLP once leaving the upper part of the house and he appears..As the layout is DL's version..

Both the DL and WDW Hatbox Ghosts are being handled by the same team.

How about pairing him with another iconic HM figure?

Look at that beautiful symmetry, the contrasting color schemes and reason for the Caretaker and his dog to be frightened! A perfectly reasonable place to put him right after we exit the attic. He'd be the first ghost we encounter as we enter into the cemetery.

Look at the LP artwork for the original "The Story And Song From The Haunted Mansion".
He's dead center on the album art, right by the gates.

Why not place him there? Hmmm, and consider this dismaying observat...whoops, got carried away.

sounds like Disneyland's got the budget and WDW'S did not. It probably would have cost more to work him into the attic or graveyard so they went with the location that would require less work money and construction.....meaning as usual WDW gets the shoehorning and bare minimum. Tourists dont care so just stick him anywhere where he will fit that wont cost major infrastructure changes and time etc. :banghead:
