Has anyone bought any of these?

I ordered a couple DVD sets from www.relivethemagic.com the other day. I ordered "All of Walt Disney World on DVD" and "All of Resorts and Downtown Disney on DVD". I hope it's legit, although I guess it's a little late to worry about that, now, since I placed the order Sunday night.

I just wondered if anyone else has ordered any of these, and if they are very good quality.

The only DVDs I think are worth purchasing are the ones done by Jeff Lange. Otherwise, just go to Mousebits and download all of Martin's excellent tribute videos.

I posted the following in one of the threads that dolbyman (above) gave a link to:

I bought the Magic Kingdom set. It took a while to receive them, but I did receive them.

The ONLY reason I bought it was because my wife kept saying she'd wished we'd videotaped Wishes, so I wanted to surprise her. Honestly, it's THE ONLY part of any of the discs that I've watched. In other words, the review I'm about to give may not be accurate for other parts of the discs.

Like I said, I wanted my wife to be able to watch and listen to Wishes at home. I hate to say it, but ...

It is a very, very poorly done video.

They really should be ashamed of themselves for selling it.

With my little hand-held digital camera, a still camera with limited video capability, the one minute that I recorded of Wishes as a spur of the moment thing is SOOOOO much better than what I bought.

First of all, if YOU were to videotape Wishes, where would you position yourself? Also, if you were to videotape Wishes to SELL it, where would you videotape from?

Well, when I was there almost 4 months ago, we were seated on the curb at the Hub, not far from the bridge to Main Street, a few yards from the popcorn cart to the right of the main walkway of the bridge. There was no one in front of me except for occasional people walking by, but they only occasionally and TEMPORARILY got in the way of the Castle.

On this disc, the person doing the video is on Main Street. Not at the end of Main Street, ON Main Street. They are far back enough on Main Street that the BUILDINGS (Casey's Corner on the left, Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on the right) often got in the way of the fireworks on some of the wide shots. AND AT ALL TIMES, A LARGE TREE BLOCKS OUT MOST OF THE FIREWORKS TO THE RIGHT OF THE CASTLE. Seriously -- you can't see any fireworks to the right of the Castle, except as seen filtered through a very big, very leafy tree. The camera also moves down at times, giving you an entertaining viw of the backs and sides of people's heads.

Okay, I just did the above from memory. I thought to myself, better go look at it again to make sure this is accurate, since I'd hate to say such negative things and be inaccurate. HANG ON -- IT GETS WORSE!

This was obviously shot in November or December of 2005. I got the year because the Castle is decked out in the Happiest Celebration on Earth stuff. How do I know the approximate month? Because THERE IS THICK CHRISTMAS GREENERY GOING FROM ONE SIDE OF MAIN STREET TO THE OTHER, WITH A BIG WREATH IN THE MIDDLE -- THIS CUTS THE SCREEN IN HALF!!! To say it's a little distracting and that it ruins the visual effect is an understatement. I don't know how I forgot about THAT one.

At least the audio is decent enough -- it's not like the camera person is talking or anything like that.

I can't believe they have the guts to sell that stuff. Now like I said, I've NEVER viewed any of the other parts of the Magic Kingdom discs. The rest of it might be just great. But I'm terribly dissatisfied with the Wishes part of it. I did a much better job with the minute that I taped myself, and I just did it very casually for my own use.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

I have also checked some of the posts on one of the links that the first responder posted. I decided to email the company and tell them to cancel my order and credit my credit card with a full refund. Hopefully there won't be any problem.

Now what about that other boxed set that I saw on the same site, but is also available at Walt Disney World? I remember seeing it at the gift shop at POR back in April and I thought about buying it then, but didn't. Is it any good? It's a 5 disk package: the 4 theme parks and the Cruise Line.

**Edit**

Nevermind...apparently both items have already shipped. I just checked my emails, and there were two emails indicating that each item has shipped, and then there was an email from the company in response to my last one telling me they've shipped already and can't be cancelled. Whether it is just coincidence, or they shipped them on purpose so as to avoid cancelling the order, I have no idea. But the bright side is I paid less than 40 bucks for both sets, so at least I'm not out a whole bunch of money. And even if it is amateur quality, hopefully there will be enough of a Disney fix on those DVD's to give me 38 dollars worth.

I just received the DVDs in the mail today. I must say, the only good thing I can think of to say is that I received them fairly promptly. I ordered them last Sunday. They shipped out Friday, and they arrived today (Wednesday).

Other than that, they are just as lousy as the other posters have testified. They did not come in any kind of professional casing like the one shown on the website. It was just a collection of individual DVD's in their own respective DVD sleeve. That even wouldn't bother me much if the DVDs would actually play. One DVD wouldn't play at all, and the player said that it is blank. On another DVD, Splash Mountain was all screwed up and kept freezing up and had gray through half the screen. Same with another ride or two. Some rides wouldn't even play at all. I would hit the play button and not a thing would happen. Wishes actually played, but as someone else said, there was a tree off to the side blocking some of the fireworks. Small World played as well. Space Mountain was very dark as they walked through the queue area and pitch black during the ride itself.

I emailed them tonight and told them of the sucktitude of their product and that I plan to send them back for a full refund.

However, before I mail it off, I really hope to get an email back telling me to keep the junk and that they will refund me anyway. There actually were a few things that would play and therefore, would give me some degree of a Disney Fix, but free is the only way I'll take this pathetic excuse for videography.

They may send you a replacement set, but good luck on a refund. I was disappointed with everything from the packaging to the quality. However, I got them so cheap it had to be one of those you get what you pay for cases.

Does anyone know of a better place to buy Jeff Lange's DVDs other than Laughingplace.com? I have been tempted to buy them for quite some time but even though the quality is supposed to be really high I still am not comfortable shelling out basically twenty bucks a pop for amateur fan videos. Are they really that good? I am especially intrigued by his Event Party DVDS and his Celebration25 DVD.

I know how hard Jeff tries to get his quality the best he can. He dosn`t just lump together home video on a disc to sell; with current attractions and shows he travels specifically to the park to shoot footage. I aquired his Horizons 2 disc DVD and the quality of one of his ride thrus is the best I`ve seen of the attraction anywhere; like it was shot yesterday.

Why thank you  :o

I just recieved the JII anniversary edition and found it great! The first version was a little snowy, but it was still viewable and I found it enjoyable. It also included JIYI, I watched it and it wasn't that bad! Figment was in WAY more than I thought. He was talking in the queue and at the end, reprising his, "can they imagine too"? line from JII. It also seems like the Imageworks had more than today. The video was better on this since it was from 1999. It also included JIIwF which was recorded last year, so obviously it was good quality. I really liked it!

Pardon me for going off on a bit of a rant here but I need to get this off my chest. I just found out that Disney recently halted sales of the Celebration 25 DVD . Why doesn't Disney go after people like Jim Hill Media and the like because they are making a profit frm the DVD sales . The Celebration 25 DVD sales all went to CHARITY. Disney so blind & heartless it makes me sick!

I bought the MNSSHP from last year, basically so I could show it off to my parents. They wanted to see what the park looked like with Halloween decorations. I was disappointed. It gave you a little bit of an idea of what the park looked like, but I was expecting more. Maybe my fault on that part of it.
