Happy Independence Day! Which state do you originally hail from?

Yeah, the fireworks have been going for a while now. The music doesn't fit the theme of Independence Day at all.

Well, yeah, 'cuz Usher = Independence Day. o_O Nothing against him, I do like some of his music, but it's no way patriotic. Like the "Lincoln" musical tribute that's currently on the PBS broadcast from DC. Although I'd give PLENTY to be watching BOSTON right now!!!!

(NYer who has no time for Macy*s fireworks)

How is it still daylight in Washington DC yet dark in NY?

Didn't the Capital Fourth ones already go off? I heard them say they were going to be replaying it for most people right away afterwards. Maybe that's what's going on. My Capitol Fourth ended at 8:30 central time.

Oh OK that makes sense....I actually quit watching them both for a while and flipped PBS back on

We are watching the tape delayed Capitol Fourth. I don't know why, I'd have to ask DH, he's in charge of the airwaves.

They aren't even replaying Capitol Fourth here. Instead it's something about the Statue of Liberty. It's actually still light here in WI. Definitely too light for fireworks.

You get "Sweet Caroline" going when it's my friends and I and we have so much fun. :D That's actually my mom's favorite song, too.

Not only Sweet Caroline, which is beloved by Irish people as well as Bostonians, he started out with a song he wrote for Boston after the Marathon bombings, and then wrapped up with a resounding version of AMERICA. Which I was proud to sing along with sitting next to my mother, an immigrant to this country. Neil Diamond ROCKS.

People are illegally shooting fireworks off somewhere, I can see them out my window. :p
How can you see my house from your window? I live in Ohio! We honestly don't have to worry about bothering anyone here. The worst is spooking my sister's horses and the livestock next door. (Makes me think of tractor tipping in Cars. :))

We live on the edge of town, and can see some fireworks from other nearby cities sometimes. But these seemed like they were coming from the middle of town.

America gained its independence from Great Britain in 1776. The United Kingdom came into being when GB annexed Ireland in 1801. ;)

I'm a first-generation American born and raised in da Bronx, NY :D (The Empire State, as has been noted)
I knew that..Didn't want to over explain it...Thats why I hate it when people refer to UK pavilion as the England pavilion.
