Happy Birthday Brian.

I see Erika already supplied the dancer, so I cancelled the girl jumping out of the cake.

Here's wishing you to have a year full of bad jokes and punny goodness :lookaroun :)

Thanks a ton guys :D

(Just wish it wasn't a MONDAY!)

Mom...since you asked...here's a little story.

The last birthday cake that I had was back on my 18th birthday.

Now...for my 20th birthday...my parents bought me a new system for my car. (Very generous). It was getting installed the day of my birthday. The plan was...after I got out of work, my dad would drive me to pick my car up. I got a call from the installer and they told me that I needed to pick the car up by 6 or I'd be stuck without the car until Monday. Soooo...I drove straight to the dealership to get the key and pay. I call my parents and explain to them what happened...and they said that they were on their way to pick up the car that I drove. I wait and wait and wait for them... (I didn't want to leave the car in this neighborhood because it's not the nicest). 3 HOURS later I call my parents back. "Oh, we're home...we're not coming." Soooooo...they completely screwed up my plans. It wasn't a joke at the time...but now I like to give my parents crap because of it (in a joking way).

Now...year after year my birthday goes without a birthday cake. (In their defense, my parents have never lumped gifts together...and they have never forgotten my birthday in the "gift sense"). Actually, when it comes to gifts...I get spoiled. (This year was an annual pass!)

This year...my aunt jokes with me and says, (in front of my mother) "Bri, we're coming over on Sunday to celebrate your birthday." Jokingly, I say ok...and the next thing I know...Saturday comes and my mother tells me that everybody is going over my house.

Woohoo...I'm throwing MYSELF a party.

But really...my mother decided that this year she was going to put the joking to rest.

People come over...we eat...and my mother calls me in because now it's time to "sing."

I go out...and on the kitchen table...I see a flicker...and the lights are out. Everyone starts singing...I look...

Is it a birthday cake? Nope.
Is it a birthday...pie? Nope
Is it a CUPCAKE? Nope
Is it a few crumbs with a candle? Nope.

No cake, no ice cream, no pie, no dessert with a candle.
It was a glass jar with a candle in it...Pumpkin Spice...Yankee Candle.

Mom: Sorry, Dad forgot to bring the cake...we were supposed to have the one left over from the Christmas party last night.
Me: Oh, you mean the one that had the slice missing from it?
Mom: Yes.
Me: Thanks.
Mom: Oh, and we looked for birthday candles EVERYWHERE...but we couldn't find them ANYWHERE!
Me: Did you try Stop N Shop? Target? WalMart? ItzaParty? Any local convenience store?
Mom: Yep... :lookaroun All sold out.

Soo...*sigh* The streak of cakeless birthdays continues.

Sure, it's a joke and I could care less if I have a party or cake or anything...it's just the lack of thought that bothers me a little. Oh well, nothing that gets my feathers ruffled :) I know people are busy around the holidays. I don't know...I know that for my sister, mom, and dad...I always make sure that there's a cake waiting for them...but that's just me.

Oh my, what you put up with! My DH was born on Christmas Eve and he has never had a birthday party. His family has always been very careful to give birthday cards, gifts wrapped in birthday paper and we always have a birthday cake along with all of the Christmas desserts, but there is just something about celebrating a birthday and Christmas in the same day... it just doens't seem right.
This is the first year that his side of the family will not be together on Christmas Eve so the girls & I are taking him out to dinner for his very first birthday party! (he is turning 46 this year)

Awww Thank you Laurie!

It's delicious :lookaroun :slurp:
(Although, when I went to lick the frosting...I just felt a static charge on my tongue).

My little cousin and I share the same birthday so I'm going over to celebrate with him tonight. (Last year he took his finger and wrote "& Brian" into his cake  )

Thanks again guys :D
