Funny how this cultural thing works. In about two weeks, Carnaval is on. And a lonely with a star covering the nipple is the LEAST you expect to see on TV for a whole week. One of the themes this year for one of the companies is condoms, and they're bringing out Kama Sutra positions. I can tell you the Church is not happy with this year's parade.

Other than that, yeah, we've had out on prime time TV before. A soap opera had two instances on the same week about two months ago. Now I'm not saying it's right, but I think involving a government investigation and a 25 grand fine is a bit TOO much attention for something that shouldn't really be that big a deal.

LOL Rodrigo!! I guess Carnaval in Brazil definitely doesn´t get any air time on the USA, huh?
We get the uncensored "Wild on" on E! Entertainment Television and I see a lot worse things there....

Watching a show on Carnivale and watching a football game are two different things though. A parent can stop a kid from watching a whole show dedicated to letting loose in that manner, but wouldn't expect to have to stop a kid from watching a pro football game.

Actually, Brad, the whole issue is that it's on 24 hours a day for a whole week. And if you go out on the streets, depending on the time and place, you can't escape it either... It;s getting more and more difficult to shield kids from this early erotization, that's why the Church tries to prevent as much as they can when it comes to the actual parade.

Click the link and listen to the simple lyrics and compare them to the debasement of women in some of today's lyrics.

Chantilly Lace

Let's not forget Chuck Berry. He did some very nasty stuff in the 50's. Ben Colder (aka Sheb Wooley) performed "Don't Go Near The Eskimos" and that debased a LOT of people too. There was plenty of slime played on the radio back in the 40's, 50's and 60's. The lyrics today are not better or worse.

The US outraged by a small breast, the Uk in uproar cause Mr Johnny Lydon (Rotten) said two swear words. You couldnt make it up. Next thing you know Eisner will be saying that guest opinion is valued.

I saw on the news last night that Janet was booted from the Grammy's (she was going to present), but Justin will still perform. I don't get that.

I think Janet was supposed to do something for Luther Vandross, but Luther will not be able to attend, so her performance is not needed.

I did hear that J.C. Chavez (Justins playmate) has been cancelled for the NFL Pro Bowl halftime show.

Co-conspirators? Both should be dumped ...but....Justin will get a standing ovation from an audience of baboons at the Grammys. CBS is gonna need a crane to carry Justin's head into the auditorium cuz this pig thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Lost in all this is Nelly's disgusting crotch-grabbing performance which I find just as appalling as the event. If you don't think this stuff is mimicked by little kids, ask my kindergarten-teaching wife who witnesses the crotch grabbing and girl humping by 5 and 6 year olds constantly.

I don't think there was an overreaction to any of this, I just think there was ALOT of reaction by ALOT of people who have had enough of it. Maybe this is a wake-up call to parents who aren't aware of the filth that's being pumped into our kids from the MTV types.

If you want to see soft , just watch the soap operas...we've come a LONG way baby!

Tramp you sound as if you would have enjoyed a series on BBC at xmas, Grumpy Old Men, a group of writers politicians presenters and good old Rick Wakeman letting rip about everything from pop music to speed cameras and over made up school kids.

You should be grateful its only MTV you have to deal with, there’s one music channel on Sky here that reminds me of my youth and a trip to certain establishments in Amsterdam. Not the sort of thing youd watch with mother.

!

Thank you for mentioning that. Why does Nelly, 50 cent etc.
feel the need to hold on to their willies? Is it gonna fall off? Are they constantly having trouble find it therefore when located must keep hand on it???? It's gross. Would you want to shake their hand after that. Not me!!

b/t/w - chaperoned a 6th dance last year and would have to break up huge crowds of kids who would form a circle around a couple who were NASTY dancing. Sixth grade for crying out loud!!

And people are wondering why we are making such a big deal about the halftime show. Obviously they don't have children or never work around them--or they are still children themselves.

 Admittedly, I am becoming a grumpy old man. I think it's the result of seeing the way things were vs the way things are vs the way things are heading. Far be it for me, Tramp, to take the high moral ground on anything but when it comes to robbing the innocence of our kids, I get so very damn angry.

Now about those excursions to Amsterdam, are you sure these were trips during your youth? ....and have you been tested lately?
