Half the MK is "down"

lifeguard, I feel ya.

A few years ago I took my parents to WDW for a day and after a lot of deliberation and trying to decide which of the four parks to visit, we ultimately settled on Epcot. We bought 1-day 1-park passes, and everything seemed fine. Once we got in, we noticed that Soarin', Test Track, and Mission: Space were all down at the same time. I was bummed.

Since World Showcase wasn't opening for a matter of hours, we were kind of upset and wished that we had just gone to the Magic Kingdom after all. So, we went to guest services and politely explained our situation to the CM. He was extremely helpful and gave us each a transfer ticket for the Magic Kingdom, basically telling us that the rides at Epcot would be up very soon, and that we could stick around until then and then use the new tickets to go over to the Magic Kingdom whenever we felt like it that day.

Basically, they'll be happy to accommodate you. If you don't make a fool out of yourself and can treat those folks like human beings, they're really helpful, understanding, and friendly. In our case, we basically got a free upgrade from a 1-park pass to a park hopper... for free!

That's the problem.. some people do not know how not to act like a fool when speaking with Guest Relations. I really do not see the need to speak with Customer Relations in this case. I mean its not like they were down all day and its not like there is nothing else to do in the magic Kingdom. But thats just my opinion

:lookaroun It was The Overtakers creating a distraction as they have got hold of the Kingdom Keepers 3 manuscript! (the manuscript has gone missing,Ridley Pearson mentioned it on his twitter so KK3 may be delayed again)

Downtimes happen. Please move on and check back with the rides later...it's that simple. No use yelling at a CM or taking out your anger to City Hall. Neither of those two things will make the ride re-open any quicker.

That was quite nice of them...:D I wonder if you were the only ones to complain? Otherwise I wonder if they gave that to everyone, seeing it might be quite costly?

Just one quick pitch for Guest Relations. We rarely complain, but have had a few problems that we needed help with. They have ALWAYS exceeded our expectations. Disney continues to have great people, despite any cutbacks. Also I have experienced down attractions many times in the past. Sometimes multiple times in the same day. It kind of comes with the territory.

Ok so you want someone to nod and smile and apologize to you. Then encourage you to experience the other shows and attractions. The funniest part of this is that if you would have walked to Guest Relations to complain, by the time you got up there they would tell you the attractions had already re-opened.

Forgive me for disagreeing but to me the MK is about more than 4 rides. There is plenty to do in the MK for an hour while these rides happen to be down. If this was an all day or even a few hours of downtime I would be at City Hall as well but 1 hour? It would take a lot more than that to ruin my day...

Well, to be honest I probably would have waited until the end of the day to visit city hall. And I dont think an hour of downtime would ruin my day, but if you've been to the MK a lot, and its the first time something like that has happened, then yea I would want guest relations to know about it. Just like a lot of people do when something goes wrong, you, probably, included. If you wouldnt have gone to GR than thats you, doesnt make a difference to me. But thats what I would have done if it were me.

ACM, remember, it is all about ENTITLEMENT... People feel ENTITLED when at WDW....

Well, if you are referring to me, the only thing I feel entitled to while on vacation is to have fun. As Im sure everyone does, and although the rides that were down werent down for long and it was just 4 or 5, if thats not something Im used to at wdw, than that would take a way from the fun. Therefore Id let guest relations know.

You don't think Disney knows that guests don't like it when attractions go down?

One day I got screamed at for Space Mountain being down while working at Jungle...and then for Test Track going down. At least Space is in MK!
So True. A few days ago Pirates and Thunder were down, and the kind folks at Thunder recommended everyone to pirates..which went down shortly after. (and being the kind pirates we are, sent them to Jungle Cruise )

What is going on with the Disney parks lately? First, Disneyland is having trouble with all their Nightastic plans and now this. At least Disneyland is getting work done at their resort . . . our WDW on the other hand is being neglected. PLEASE BRING A NEW E-TICKET TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM!! :brick:
