I'll see your Toontown and raise you my Critter Country. Which pushes the date back even further to just after Roy's passing.Ahem, Toontown...
I've been told the train will actually be longer than before

The difference being that Ang Lee bounced back and went on to make great films like Brokeback Mountain and Life of Pi while Joe Rohde went on to design the world's most expensive landscaping projects disguised as Disney attractions. That's what makes his rambling explanation of this project even more baffling. He's the guy who spends years researching the right font to use on a sign and billing it straight to the Walt Disney Company and here he is talking about the DESIGN of the ride and he came up with warehouse / fortress/ power plant.
And it's not like he fully believes in what the corporate overlords are making him do. Remember the anecdote where he enthusiastically quipped that it'd take about a week to dismantle Dinorama?Joe Rohde unlike the rest of the REAL imagineers understands the corporate mentality, Do what the BOSS wants and you keep your job, The ONLY reason AK has maintained thematic integrity is because of Joe Rohde. If Joe Rohde was not watching over his creation AK would resemble DHS/EPCOT.
Just look at all the eye rolling in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout video. And it's not like he fully believes in what the corporate overlords are making him do. Remember the anecdote where he enthusiastically quipped that it'd take about a week to dismantle Dinorama?

OrigInals mean nothing to the company. Look at what they're doing to Disneyland.
I agree with you. It's a mess. Too much Star Wars... I'm tired of it already, and now they are changing Walt's original 1955 river and railroad too much for a sci-fi land of space violence. Heck, the railroad will not go around the perimeter like it always has.
If there is any thought of bringing GOTG (which I don't understand why they think is such a great franchise due to one over performing movie)
Imho Guardians was much better than both those movies. All this talk about Guardians and nothing about Big Hero 6 or even Wreck it Ralph for the US parks. Sigh. A fan can dream....
Time will tell I suppose.

I didn't know that a Big Hero 6 sequel is being written. The only thing I knew that was coming out for Big Hero 6 was a Cartoon series for Disney XD in 2017.I'm just saying that it would be nice if Disney remembered they had other properties. Spread it out a bit. We are getting sequels to both of those movies. One is being written the other has been announced.

This whole idea of films "deserving" to be in the parks is exactly why they are not. Guardians of the Galaxy is the bigger franchise and pry of an even larger franchise. That is the only metric. All this talk about Guardians and nothing about Big Hero 6 or even Wreck it Ralph for the US parks. Sigh. A fan can dream....

You're just arguing against yourself. You're using the same unrelated metrics of film and merchandise performance that you are complaining about.Big Hero 6
The film was met with both critical and commercial success, grossing over $657 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing animated film of 2014.[9] It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Animated Movie.
Wreck It Ralph
The film has earned $471 million in worldwide box office revenue, $189 million of which was earned in the United States and Canada; it was met with critical and commercial success, winning the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature and receiving nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film and the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
So tell me again why they aren't deserving of being part of the parks in some form?
The fact that both of them have merch that sells out quicker than it can be put down is very telling as well. But hey, let's keep jumping on the Marvel bandwagon. Disney needs to pay attention to the other IPs it has. Not just Marvel.
I won't go to the park if they bulldoze everything for Marvelland.
