See, it fits thematically... the Xandarian government is showcasing their culture among the Earth's showcase of cultures. It is, by coincidence, exactly the same as American rock of the 70's and 80's.

The Story
After saving their world from certain destruction, Peter Quill—a.k.a. Star Lord—brokered a deal with Nova Prime and the Xandarian government to bring an outreach program to his home planet. The purpose? To share Xandar’s rich heritage and culture with Earth’s people.
As luck would have it, Peter informed Xandar’s leaders that there’s already a place on Earth with a similar mission… a theme park called Epcot, where all of Earth’s cultures are celebrated. So, as part of their first outreach, Xandar has sent some of their most talented performers to showcase their music!

EARTH. Not intersteller. Get those aliens off my lawn out of my park. :p

Even their own PR piece doesn't make sense.

Um... what? Is that actually official?

Edit: Presumably for the dance party?

Can't wait to see this...

From what I remember reading, it will be selected songs from the mix tapes from both movies. I figure the show wont be longer than a half hour so not everything will be included for sure. However the musicians they did select ( at least the ones I know about) are pretty incredibly talented and typically do a number of different genres in their performances in the bands that they are in outside of this show. That's a great mission statement that applies to every theme park ever.

The ghost of many largish animatronics will haunt you in your sleep for not parenthetically noting that Guardians of ye olde Galaxy is a replacement attraction.

LOL. I know. I guess the towering building makes it seem like a new attraction.

Things that should be in DHS:
  • This concert (show? Is there going to be a plot to this or is it just Quill and Gamora singing?)
  • The Guardians ride
I just can't wrap my head around how this IP landed in Epcot of all places.

I'd not have hated Pixar Fest in DHS, the fireworks and projections (not their best show, but it has potential) and the Pixarmonic Orchestra. Bring back the Music of Pixar Live. Do Star Wars Music Live. Do Disney Music Live. Again. ANYTHING. The (now former?) Sounds Like Summer concerts would go well in DHS ...

DHS could desperately use some entertainment. Anything.
